They sell thick gears for the 14 bolt so you dont have to replace the carrier.

I *think* you will need a 4.56 or lower carrier, or *maybe* you can get a "thick" gear set in the 5.13's for a 14 bolt and use that carrier - but I am not sure...

Boy, I sure am a lot of help :clown:

4.56's have their own carrier...anything below uses the 4.10 and down..anything above 4.56's is not factory and uses thick gears.

I think only a couple places sell the "thick" 5.13 which is the lowest they make for the 10.5" 14 bolt. If there are steeper let me know but I think 5.13 is the lowest because the pinion gets teeny...

Would " They " be Randys R&P? I was thinking of ordering from him. Thanks for the info.

Is that an open or a gov-loc carrier. The cross-shaft looks a little small for an open. If it's the gov loc then just toss it.

BTW, they do make thick gears for these things. I just gotta pony up the money to get my 5.13's :D

Brawler,
Precision Gear makes the thick 5.13 gears. No carrier change needed. I will be purchasing a set soon for my 14 bolt. The best price I've found so far is Drivetrain warehouse for $229.95 then DTD for $233.00 and our own local Coast driveline for $235.00.
DTD and Coast driveline have the master install kits for $109.00. Gears 4 less has Detroits for $299.00. If u r running this in your Scout I would weld it. If u will be running more on the street I would go with the Detroit. I have a shop checking on a better price for the gears and locker. If your interested let me know maybe we can get a discount on a group buy. I've talked to u before at Fat City.
