so here it is. the first thing i have built for my poor ignored disco.
not the greatest fab work, and this is just the rough construction. all welds will be filled and sanded smooth and i will put some kind of radiator protection up as well, round stock tube hoop of some sort. still working out the design details.
anyway 250 wall hydroformed box tube 3x6. the part that bolts to the frame is reciever stock. pretty heavy pig.
sorry you have to open the pics up, i still can't figure out how to have the pics just be here.
i suck at this interweb stuff.

You suck at the intarweb (and I suck at cell phone conversations :flipoff2:).

Nice job, looks heavy, are you sure you want to lug that winch from the front to the back (I'm assuming that's what the hitch receiver is for)?

The welds didn't even look THAT bad.

Where's my fire hose?

ironically the reciever was already in the FREE piece of steel so i just kept it. can be a good recovery point with a reciever mounted shacle or such. actually the welds turned out pretty good. i am getting much better. the bad looking ones were actuall done on a miller 210 that i used for the last half of the project. i was not used to it. all other welds were done with my little lincoln flux core.
gonna try to steal the hose for you tomorrow.
what will you send me?:flipoff2:

it isn't really stealing.....i call it income suplimentation.:flipoff2:
the hose i will send you will defineatley be "out of service", so it won't be pretty and yellow anymore, it will be dingy grey and the jacket frayed in areas.

An orbital sander is a good way to get the mill scale off. I am assuming that given the vehicle, it will be gloss black of some sorts and medium grade box tubing can be a PITA to have the finish look good. You could always get the bumper sandblasted before you paint as well. Not sure I would have built the bumper entirely out of the material you picked, but to each his own. Are there any plans to lighten?

You can place each photo on a seperate response, or if you use a hosting service (make sure its a free, no need to sign in one) you could post all three links in the same response and they would show up. :D:D

the material i "picked" was free.:flipoff2:
i have less than $5 invested into the whole thing (new bolts, a few feet of weld wire)

It looks good. Any idea how much it weighs? It looks uber-heavy, even without a winch.
