as it says, finally put those things in the truck (97 Cummins). I still need to hook up the sensor for the trans temp. i didnt get to that today, started to get dark. the hardest part of that little project was running all those damn wires, theres enough of them..... i put in pyro, boost and tranny temp on the A-pillar. they dont give you much room in that thing for all the wires and plugs and stuff. i got the kit from deiselmanor.com. the gauges are those ISOPro's. theyre pretty nice and the kit came with EVERYTHING needed. i figured hooking the sensors up would be the hard part. but the hard part was figuring out where to put all the wires. the only thing i dont like about this kit is that they dont give you too much wire for the trans temp sensor and the wires for the control boxes are a little too short. i ended up mounting the boxes up under the dash instead of on the firewall like i had wanted. but anyway theyre in now. i hooked up the gauge backlights to the dimmer switch for the dash lights so when the dash lights get dimmed, the gauges dim as well.

now what should the numbers be at? i read that youll get better efficiency with lower boost, keep the EGT below 1200 and the trans temp below 270...Does this sound right to you guys?

I have the same kit, bought from the same place.

The install was very easy, but fairly involved.

Pics ?

I got the same kit, from the same place, and did the install this weekend too! AND my name's Matt.

Did they send you a "kit" for the trans temp? I decided to not install mine and get a Mag-Hytec transmission pan instead.

They list the trans temps on their site: http://www.dieselmanor.com/maghytec/trans_pan.asp

They way I read it you should be keeping it under 200.

i got the "manifold" that splices into the cooler line. he said they make some kind of adapter thing for the test port but he wasnt sure if itd work on a 97 trans, he said it was for 99 and newer which i think had a different trans. and there was no way i could shell out the $$$ for a new pan. i didnt get to the trans temp sensor in, i ran outta daylight so ill do that this saturday. nice kit and good customer service.

Ran out of daylight? Hell, I did mine in the dark and in the rain! I gotta buy a new house with a real garage. :shaking:

The instructions were very good. Except I think they should have listed the dimmer wire color on the sheet instead of saying "use your volt meter to fine the correct one" It's the brown one in the corner! I looked it up on TDR. That wasted 15 mins of time. Other than that and my Pyro guage needing to be switched out it went easier than my first 2 installs. The needle in my guage is off centered by enough I'm worried it will stick. Damn Bundy luck.

I have the same truck except manual with the 215 pump was getting 25 lbs boost and reach around 1000 on pyro PRE-turbo when I was getting on it if I remember back then. I now have a #100 plate and built a wastegate controller and BHAF filter. Could reach 1400 on pyro pretty easy with boost set at 35 lbs. Now have a 5" exhaust and can get to 1000* and have to really run it to touch the 1100 emptry. Need to hook to trailer and see what it runs now with exhaust. Hope that gives you something to compare too.

yeah i did mine in the rain for half the day as well, that pissed me off. i didnt know the directions said to hook it to the dimmer wire, here i thought i was being crafty.....the directions were too long to read i just looked at some pictures and went with it.

I have 3" no cat and no muffler. i cant get the EGTs over 900* ive tried just to see if i could, but that is empty. it runs down the highway at 65 mph at 2k rpm at 600*. boost is between 6-15. i got it to 20 a few times when i was nutzin around with it. and i cant say for the trans cause that sensor isnt in yet. btw my trucks bone stock, no plate or anything else. im curious to see what the readings are when i tow the land yatch. its not a huge camper and prolly coulda gotten away without gauges but what the hell. its a 25' bumper pull with a GVWR of 5200 lbs or something like that so its pretty light.

Dieselmanor.com has great prices, and great service. I really love my Isspro gauges that I got from them.. I run Fuel Pressure, Turbo Boost, and Pyrometer.. I want to do trans temp, but don't REALLY need it with the 6 spd..

Trans temp should NEVER hit 270 you should stay in the under 180 range with occasional ventures up above if you're working it hard but anything over 200 change the fluid ASAP.
