Wilson 04-08-2002, 03:45 PM DRT12 snapped a couple pics for me today. The res isn't great but you get the idea of what I'm building. I have some more at home of the super beefy front hanger and better pics will follow when we get the film developed. Going to fordyce in 2 weeks
J-Dogg 04-08-2002, 03:51 PM Looks good:usa:
Dychen 04-08-2002, 04:32 PM whats the advantages/disadvantages of moving the springs inward like that
Rockrat 04-08-2002, 05:53 PM just my 02 but I dont think there moved in look at where the frame is compared to the hangers look's to me like some wide 44
well at least not stock, so it appears to have them moved in

The springs are actually further out than stock sami springs. I used wide track waggy axles and put the springs in the stock locations for that axle (31.5" center to center). So what you guys are seeing is an illusion. SOme reasons for moving springs in are:
-tighter turning radius, if the knuckles will swing it
-more leverage on the spring, making it more yielding to flexing and I guess it could flop but with an 80" track and a 2200 lb rig, I doubt it

Rockrat,
That's why I like newbies........Their attention to detail:rolleyes:  LOL
Wilson 04-09-2002, 09:34 AM Damn, I didn't even notice that he was a newbie. He's probably too busy figuring out how he's gonna hook up his z-link once the spring over is done and the 33's are on.

rotozuk 05-22-2002, 12:09 PM Wilson,
I'd love to see a couple of shots of your Saginaw install as I need to drop in the Scout II box on mine next. Looks like I'll need to get creative with the shack placement to clear the box.
-Wayne
weezman1 05-22-2002, 04:00 PM Likewise on the ScoutII box install...
Also, pics of the front outboarded mounts too, if you could... Got Scout D44's, i believe there 31" from center hole to center hole.
Thanks
Wilson 05-24-2002, 02:15 AM I'll see what I can do about pics. Honestly I haven't worked on the sami for about 3 weeks now. Toyfamily and I ran into crunch time mode on the buggy to make the Reno Cal Rocs. My room mate has most everything finished, he's just waiting on the ps pump bracket, I was building the sami for him. I'm graduating form College on Sunday and have 3 weeks to get my truck back together, so I'm working on that right now. I needed every bit of the 10" frame extension to fit the box, a scout box might be better. For the shackle outboards, I boxed in the body mount, up to the bolt and used taht as my outboard, real simple. I used toy IFS rear springs.
