So went and picked up a 80' F250 8lug semi float d60 w/ open diff 35 spline to put in the cruiser. Am I going to have any issues that anyone knows of besides the usual: Open diff:( , 3.53(?) gears:( , and doing the SO perches. In other words, is there something wrong w/ this d60?

you sure it's a 35 spline?

3.53 R/P is prety large pinion gear, I'd call some manufactures to ensure you can get all the different R/P gear versions available for your specific Axel BOM, other then that if it's really 1.5in shafts with 35 spline then your set

I'd like to see some pictures do the shaft neck down any where or are they the same thickness all the way to the splines?

3.53's and 35 spline, are you sure its not a Dana 61? Run the BOM or look on the castings, dana 60 will say somthing like 60HD, a dana 61 will have D61 Cast into it.
Some Fords did have 61 rears and they were 35 spline

Yeah we checked and rechecked a couple of times. It's casted "60" in three places. I'll snap a picture today, otherwise, it's 1.5" shaft. There is a slight neck down area, but don't recall where exactly. I'll look into it some more today. Haven't figured out if I'm gonna do a welded rear, spool, detroit. Gears ?, as of now I'm thinking around the 4's. Depends on what front I find. I've got plenty of gearing w/ the sm465-rockbox-L/C t-case to not worry too much in that area. Thanks for the insights guys. I never claim to know everything.

Yea, but the 3.53 gear thing threw me a bit. lower than 3.55 are 61 numbers 3.07-3.55. Not that a 61 is a total curse if you do some reasearch, they can be a great axle.

we didn't count the teeth ourselves. Popped the diff cover on the ring gear was a 13-46. Figured that was the pinion count-ring gear count. However, it was marked d60 as well:smokin: Just curious if someone knows any other issues before I go welding the perches on and getting excited. Almost seemed to easy, know what I mean?

You are not going to spool that axle. Full detroit, ARB (RD43)(RD42) or lunch box locker are about your only options.
