: CJ Clutch Fork and Slave Misalignment Problem

Somehow, during the reinsallation of my clutch & trans, the slave cylinder and clutch fork got out of alignment. The rod attachment point on the fork sits ~1" lower than the rod coming out of the slave cylinder.

My clutch parts and bellhousing are all factory AMC CJ. The parts were in alignment when I removed everything. The fork rests on the pivot ball as it should. With some might, I can push the fork up in the proper place but once I release the fork drops.

I installed the clutch and bellhousing to the engine first then attached the tranny, instead of mounting the bellhousing on the tranny and then bolting the entire assembly to the engine. My only thought is that the fork unclipped it self from the T/O bearing when installing the tranny. Perhaps I bent the retaining clips on the T/O bearing during the install.

Would anybody care to support my idea or suggets other areas to inspect before I get home and disassemble everything?
