Okay, looking for a little tech advice from anyone running a Holley truck avenger carb.
Sometimes when I get on the throttle hard for a while, the engine starts to cut out like its running out of gas, and I will back off of the throttle and it clears up in a second and will run fine.
I tuned the motor, new plugs, new cap, rotor, set the timing, new plug wires, set the fuel mixture. Fuel pump is a new Holley mechanical. Didn't seem to help, runs great 90% of the time, but the other 10% is when it acts like it is starved for fuel duing a long pull on the throttle.
Is there a possibility of a float sticking and not allowing enough fuel into the carb? Has anyone experienced this? Its really the only thing that I can think of right now.
Thanks

which TA do you have and what size is your motor?

I was having the same problem, but mine happens at about 2500 rpm the motor just falls on it's face and acts like it's starving for fuel. I called Holley tech and they told me some of their truck avenger carbs went out with the check weights in the metering block installed upside down. This causes bad off idle stumbles as well as stumbles throughout the rpm range. Might want to call them and ask if that is your problem. I had to send mine back to have it fixed...still havn't heard if that is the problem or not.

I ran a 670 Truck Avenger on a 355HP 350CID SBC and had to increase the main nozzle size as well as the accelerator piston cam setting to eliminate the stumbling. Seems like the factory setting for the 670 might be good for up to 300 hp or so? What are you running it on?

Dude, that is the same damn problem I have with mine. Bad off idle bogs, and 2500-2700 rpm dead spots.
So what did you do to have it fixed?
BTW, the carb is the 670 and the motor is a 454.
Thanks guys

I sent it off to Holley three days ago still waiting to see what the problem was. I am running the 770 on a 510 cub in bb. I have had problems from the beginning with bad stumbles. I upgraded to the 50cc accelerator pump, had to keep jetting up, and I put a bigger squirter on it. It eliminated the stumble for awhile until I took it out on a trail and it started running really shitty. I'll let ya know as sson as I Hear from Holley.

I think if I had to do it over, I would have gotten a demon carb, everyone says that they are miles ahead of Holley.
But anyway, I hate my carb, it blows balls. Let me know what you find out though...thanks.

I have been contemplating on running a demon 850, but not sure how it will do on off camber angles. I'll keep ya posted:D

electric fule pumps help :smokin: ive got a 770 TA on a 383 runs pretty good. I honestly dont think this is a "high performance carb" tho, more like a novelty carb, works for puttin around. If your looking to hot rod your truck to the mall and back, im sure a demon carb is for you.

I had a edelbrock victor series mech fuel pump that flows 130gph. I put a Holley blue electric one on thinking that could be the problem but it didn't help.
