I had a cab fire a little over a month ago when my mechanic used a cutting torch to change my downpipe, i am concerned about the mileage that the new instrument cluster from the replacement interior is going to have. I have a 96 F-250 powerstroke, the interior i was told is out of a 97 f-250 powerstroke. Is there any way to reprogram that mileage or a place where i can send that instrument cluster to get the mileage corrected to what my truck had and not what the replacement cluster has? If not i guess i'll have to live with it. I have no clue what the mileage on this new cluster has... could be way more than my truck could be way less, may even be close to what my truck has... i just don't know, i am asking for future reference just incase. If you all have any suggestions or know of people or businesses that can reprogram the mileage i would appreciate it.

A Ford dealer will have the ability to reprogram them, should cost around $70.

dealers can do it however expect either a no or a refusal because they cannot verify the mileage on the truck that they are reprogramming it to is the actual mileage. They are required to affix a sticker to the doorjam indicating the work done, They then become legally responsbile for any attempt at odomoeter fraud.

I dunno about that, FWIW, when i put the 318 from a durango in my TJ, it read the same mileage as it did when the 4 popper was in it, two different computers. however, that was in a jeep, not a ford.

the mileage on the ford digital displays is stored in teh PSOM module which is attached to the back of the spedometer.
Depending on how damaged the interior is on the truck you may be able to pull the PSOM from the rear of your original cluster and put it in on the back of the new cluster and poof you have the correct mileage.
