Trying to find out which years Chevy truck calipers to use on a late 80's Ford front D60. I here that they work much better that the Ford calipers and am looking at changing mine out. Thanks.

You have to get the conversion brackets for Chevy calipers to work on a Ford D60. Then it is the 3/4 brake stuff you use.

I used the same calipers off my EB 44 and just made brackets for them.
The Ford brakes do suck.

Yup, a GM 3/4 and 1/2 are the same caliper.
Plus it makes it easier to clear 15 inch wheels.

If you want to use stock parts then change the knuckles and everything else out from there?

I dont want to change everything out. just the calipers. i think there is a guy on e-bay that makes the caliper mounting bracket to just bolt on the chevy 3/4 ton calipers onto the ford 3/4 ton. I just need to know what year chevy 3/4 calipers to go get. GWBronco.....do you what years will work??? thanks. Jerry

I know '78 chevy calipers and rotors work, but not sure on all the years. There are a lot of companies making brackets, so I would ask the people that you get the bracket from which years they have used without much issue. I hope this helps.

I have a 94 Ford HP D60 with dual piston calipers and it stops just fine with a 5120lb. truck and 46" tires. So what about the D60 brakes suck?

I guess some people just like the small chevy calipers. They don't have near the stopping power, but they will clear the cheap 15" rims. Personally I'd just get some 15's with 3" or less backspacing or better yet, 16's.

yes i do, as well as a F350 booster and mc. i have eliminated the 4wabs, and have bled this thing so many times over the last few years, i am sure there isnt air in there. they just dont stop that well. The only other thing it could be is pedal rod ratio I guess. Im just not smart enuf to figure that out.

Ya something not right my 85 weighs 7300 lbs and stops fine. Try some Hawk pads.
