I am wondering what is the MPG for an 96-97 F-250/350 powerstroke unloaded and unloaded. I am having a thought of selling my 96 Bronco for one. Also will insurance be more expensive than a Bronco?
If I did buy one, the regular cab is more my style.

Cruise over to theDieselStop (http://www.thedieselstop.com/) all the info you will ever need about the psd

mileage depends on 2wd vs 4wd and cab/bed configurations as well as rear end ratios.
the 2wd reg cab will get you 20 if you stay out of it
most guys w/ 4wd crew cabs get in the 15-16 range with normal driving
I have a '95 PSD in a 350 4door bronco conversion w/ auto & 4.10 gears and I've peaked out @ 19 mpg (running 60-65 across rural backroads) typically I'm around 15-16. Have gotten down to 10 towing 14k in a high wind resistance trailer. I've added chips, intake & exhaust and noticed about 1-2mpg increase but my best mileage was when it was still stock.
I'd advise staying away form TDS, you'll find plenty bickering & arguing over any & everything. I tend to frequent www.superdutydiesel.com and www.thedieselgarage.com You'll find a few less people but the folks there know what they are talking about.

I got an average of 17.5 mpg towing an empty trailer and the a 4000lb car. I drive pretty slow though.

My 96 single cab longbed 4x4 5-spd w/4.10's and 35's gets 20-22 running unloaded at 70mph all day long. I know because I commuted 200miles per day for 6 months in it.
I have a 6-pos chip and free flowing intake and exhaust. Mileage really drops off after 70mph depending on where that is for you as far as RPM's.
Lowest I have ever gotten is 12mpg pulling a 10K trailer cross-country and that was with 265's, no chip or exhaust.

Has your speedometer been calibrated for the 35's? If not, your odometer is showing more miles than it's really traveling and the MPG will be inflated also.
I ask because I have almost the identical setup (supercab shortbed instead) on 265s and I've never seen 22mpg. Around town is a steady 18 and highway might creep up to 20 if I stay below 70 (not often).

Actually, it is the other way around. Larger tires make the odo read lower than actual miles traveled. For each revolution, you go farther due to the larger diameter. Therefore, MPG is actually under represented. Although, 20-22 seems a bit high. Not questioning it, but for these rigs that seems rather up there, especially at 70+mph. With the 4.10's, I find MPG drops off significantly after about 60-65mpg.
I get ~15-17 in my F350 CC. It depends upon weather, driving style, idle time and if I have to use 4x4 or not. Nasty weather, hard winds and pushing through has driven it into the low-teens and single digits once.

Yes I calibrated the comupter when I went to 35's. On the 94-96 you can change the computor yourself whith a few calculations. Yes those #'s are right, cruise set at 70mph, I got 20-22 very regularly on the freeway for at least 600 of the 700 mile range of the fuel tanks.

Yep, I realized later that I had it bass-ackwards.
