I'm contemplating a CJ2a that serve as a daily driver (5 mile slow-speed commute) and a moderate wheeler
1) I'd be swapping in a motor, probably a tbi 4.3 or tbi 5.7. Is it possible to get 15+ mpg out of a flat fender around town with a v6 or v8? They're light, so that has to help. I'm trying to get this buildup green lighted by the mrs. so please help me out here with this JU question.
2) Is a np205 too big for a flat fender? Everyone spends $500 adapting a decent transmission to the dana18 when there are sm465/205 combos for $150-250. There must be a reason, right? Too wide for the frame, too long of a setup, or just plain too big?
