Hey guys, I don't usually wander out of the LR forum but my business partner just sold his Defender for a POS 86 Diesel Blazer :flipoff2: and he's having some problems.

I did a search and it looks like everyone else is having an opposite problem. eg. they want they're TH400 to stay in first while he wants his to shift out of first!

He has gone through the entire vacuum setup and replaced everything, flushed the fluid, installed a new filter, etc... I suggested something along the lines of a kickdown cable not working properly but I don't know shit about Diesels. It's odd because he picked it up and it ran fine for a few days then all of a sudden the shift quality started to get worse and worse then finally over the course of 3 days it finally stopped all together.

Any suggestions on what to check next? He refuses to take it to a shop so here we are..

Thanks!

If it was a progressive thing, it could be one of a few items,,first low on fluid?, second-- trans flat worn out, third-- vac line to the modulator, OR the gear on the governor worn out. The governor thing I have seen a couple of times where the bushing in the trans case walks back and catches the edge of the gear and peels all the nylon off.
