I went to Sand mountain a few weeks ago and experienced a strange problem in my Suburban. After towing into Tahoe I honked the horn and to my surprise I lost my dash lights and taillights........I still had brake lights and headlights but no taillights or dash lights. Stereo still works too.
I checked the fuses and noticed I had burnt out the 25amp tailight and dash lights. I replaced these but it hasent fixed the problem? Can anyone offer me some help please.

As a side note I pay someone local to come to my house in Pollock Pines to assist if fixing the problem.

Checked the fusible links near the power distribution block/starter post where the wires branch off?
I don't know what year your BURB is, so I'm just shooting in the dark, but I think all chevys are relatively the same.

Does your gauges go nuts when you turn the headlights on? If so, look under the dash, about where your left knee is, and look for a 10 guage wire with a square ring terminal on it. That be the ground. I don't know where it goes, I just used a bolt and wing nut to attach it to the parking brake pedal.

Thanks for some of the infor guys. The suburban is a 1994. I guess I'll be looking at everything this weekend to get to the root of the problem.

Keep the info coming please!

I once had a blown turnsignal relay short which caused a similar problem. If you have your GM manuals look to see what is associated on that 25 amp circuit and the horn circuit as well. Probably more than tail lights/ stop lights are affected.

Did the fuse blow again that you replaced? If not look for a skinned wire in your wire bundle for those circuits. All it takes is a little vibration and a quick bond to ground to blow the fuse. Hope you have electrical drawings and a volt/ohm meter or you'll be shot gunning the problem all weekend.

Good Luck!
