View Full Version : formula toys and the tinbender jambo?
So who's going to be there?
I'm just assembling my chassis right now:eek: just finished the final welding, and have it mostly painted...diffs are built sitting next to it and the tcase's are reassembled with the cyro'd output..still lot to do though but I will be there
Good thing I told all my customers to call back next month...and booked myself in.
For you guys that wheel hammers all the time what spares do you actually carry in the rig? not sure if I'm going to have time to get a luggage, tool, cooler rack built up.

I'll be there.
As far as spares, a short side axle, a birf, duct tape, fuses, tire plug kit, and a few tools. I've used the fuses and plug kit.
I used to be a pack rat with my old truck, It wheeled better with a bit of weight on the back so I didn't mind carrying a bit on the to much side as far as spares go...but defiently short on room with this rig with 4 seats. I'm going to have to pack sparingly

I'm going to have to pack sparinglyI used to carry everything, but that increased weight and broke numerous parts. Since I went to minimum spares on the rig, I've found that I really don't need as much. I keep most of my spares in the tow rig.

Dont have a formula toy, but I carry: Spare birf, ujoint, hub, knuckle studs, duct tape, jb weld, tire plugs, radiator stop leak, hose repair tape, oil, spring clamps (for broken main leafs), and ratchet tie straps... all fits in an ammo can and has gotten me(and a few others) off the trail for every break so far
Back at camp I keep: spare tire, tcase, inner axles, steering box, knuckles, pitman arm, open diff, various hoses and bolts, and lots of fluids

Not going to be there. But with the F-toy I only carry a small tool bag and of course fuses. The rest of the spares stay on the tow rig. The trailer usually has spare tire, all shafts, 2 Long birfs, t-case, d-line, and assorted other shiat. If I had all that stuff on the F-toy I would definately break all that stuff. I didn't have a rack last summer and ended up cutting some 2x4's and laying them across the rig and using ratchet straps to hold my stuff down. Kinda hick but it worked. This summer it will have the rack.

We'll be there Thursday sometime.
Spares?....uh...what spares?
Just the minimal tools the fit my rig only, u-joint, tie-wire, tire plug kit, fuses, grease, zip-ties, duct tape, headlamp, hand cleaner, rag, a few old stale Powerbars and a warm Redbull.
Everything else is on the trailer or in my nearby garage/shop :smokin:

Hey Eric, how long will people be staying? Kathy has a commitment on Friday so we won't be able to make it till Saturday late afternoon, early evening. Would it still be worth the trip, or will most people be leaving Sunday morning?
The Toy is still in the shop so we'd be in the explorer again, spectators :(
BTW, we've got your cigar snipper thing so don't go buy another one. If we don't come up to Hammers, we'll mail it to you.

Thanks Karl, I was wondering where those went;)
For the most part people tend to clean up, load up and leave Sun by early afternoon. You might find a few that will hang out later, but it won't be me since I'll be arriving Wed morning:D
