: Shipping A Gas Tank - How?

I need to get a used TJ gas tank shipped to me, but I'm having problems finding a shipper that will take it. It's a used tank so it has a "gas smell" to it. It has been (or can be) fully flushed with water, but I'm sure the smell will still hang around.

USPS won't touch it.

FedEx wants a $60 "dangerous goods" surcharge on top of overnight shipping costs ... fug' 'dat.

Any of you have any ideas/experiences?

Thanks in advance.

We used to ship used fuel tanks plastic or steel all the time UPS. We just either put it in a box or wrapped it in corregated paper.

Never said a thing :D

exactly, box it up and don't tell them what it is.

When I shipped a defective tank back to MTS, they told me to flush with water and bleach and then ship it UPS and tell them it is a new tank. The bleach completely got rid of the fuel smell.

I had a used Bronco 32 gal tank shipped to me via UPS recently. All he had to do was wash it out till there was no more gas smell then he stuck it into a BBQ grill box. :D
