I have an '01 jeep tj with dana 35 rear axle with superior axles and arb locker.I have noticed with rear jacked up that there is movement in and out of the housing when I shake the wheels. Movement is only slight but equal on both sides. Is this normal? Or do I need to do something to correct this? when i shake it i can make it make a knock noise , but precise amount of movement i'm not sure
A little bit should be fine. I'm assuming that you are talking about less than a millimeter or so, correct?

sounds like you have a C-Clip rear end!
you better get that one into the shop quick - once a rear end goes c-clip - there is no going back! The axle might come flying out at any point and kill someone and then you would be responsible!

You actually locked that axle? I made that mistake a few years ago, before I learned better.

Totally normal - you'll be fine until you start the engine and release the clutch... then you're on borrowed time.

I installed a super 44 kit and i had the same thing happen. It turned out that superior sent the wrong "backing plates" i think that is what they are called, because i had disk brakes they are different than the drum version and they allowed for about 3/8 play. A quick call to superior and they told me to put the stock ones on and ill be fine. If you have abs or disc conversion or something like that on your 35 it could be the same problem
