Just happened to be walking through the tool section and I overhear a guy say that's a great price as he is looking at a tool chest on the floor. I hang out in the area and when he leaves I went over to take a look. It's a Craftsman 6 drawer roller bearing with grip latch chest.....for $99!!! It's marked down as it must have been the display, some very small scratches but the tag said it was originally $150 marked down to $99. I know they screwed up so I buy it immediately and it turns out they sell it for $370!!

Here it is, wish they had two for that price. :smokin:

Got one just like it mounted next to the lathe to put tooling in. Nice box for the money

Nice score! It is a nice tool box, I have 2 of them. Make sure when you are loading it to not put any box or tools under where the griplatch tabs are on the sides of the drawers. I did that the first day I got one and I couldnt open the drawer. Had to make a odd shaped wire to fish through the crack and move what got under the tab to open the drawer.

For the Cali people, keep your eyes pealed in the tool corral of Orchard Supply Hardware stores… Every now and then we have craftsman tool boxes come in slightly scratched , open box or models that are “deleted” that we’ll mark down 30-50%… Not bad :smoking:

Yep, I had that happen when a socket rolled to the front of a drawer on it's side. It was in the corner and prevented the latch from moving.

You work at OSH?? I think I go to mine about 2.3 times per day on average. :p I'll definitely keep my eyes open. I can always use more tool boxes. :smokin:

I was working in the auto shop at Sears when I purchased most of my hand tools and boxes. I rarely paid more than 60% of the price tag for anything. :D

They must have changed that because I know a guy that has been working there for years and he only gets 10% Every once in a while he can get 20% off on certain things but he has been no help to me on getting the deals :D

You had to know how to work the system. Sales plus Craftsmen club discount, plus employee discount, plus auto shop discount, and sometimes some other discounts as well. The trick was to get wait for the right time to buy things.

EDIT: My speeling sux today

I thought they merged or it was the other way around or something like like that...

Sears is CHEAP.... They went stingy with coupons and sales this year... Fewer no tax days, stingy on the pay and hours... No really good deals any more. Also last year, your birthday was a paid holiday... Not this year :(

I made out like a BANDIT at Sears this year, you guys need to pay attention better.

Well depends.

When I worked there, you could get tools for 25% off. The 10% was a Sears employee discount off the bat, but you could get another 15% off if you had the manager print out a letter saying the tools where for use in the shop. Now you were supposed to buy the tools and bring them home, but the manager didn't care one way or the other.

The 15% was a thing only if you worked in the Auto Shop. The girls selling clothes and shit like that couldn't get it.

Also if there was a sale, you could get better.

They had a weekend with 10% off for military. I went in and added my 25% discount :D And on top of that another 10% since I signed up for a Sears card that day.
That was pretty much the best I did, and I had a shopping cart full to the top of tools. The bottom was about ready to blow out!
