Tell me why I should go with one of these 2 lifts. Bend-Pac 12c..12k lift @ $3500 and I install it myself or a Mohawk 10k @$6000 installed. I think the Mohawk is built better? but at a $2.5k premium  I will have a lg safety margin with the Bend-pac since I will be lifting at the most 9k with my Excursion and 90% of the time 6K with my EB.
Thanks, Cary

Ya I can and that will save me $5-600 so still $2k difference.

Have you looked at any rotory lifts, having worked in the auto repair bussiness for many years I perfer Rotorys they are fast and super strong and there lift pads are alittle better than others as far as cost I don't think there any higher than the mohawk setting one up is petty simple to

Which one would recommend a Symmetrical or Asymmetrical for my use. The Rotory 10K runs about the same $$ as the Bend-Pac 12k.

I would suggest a 2 post lift design. I have a 12k lift with the 2 rails that you drive the vehicle tires on. Its a pain to work on almost everything. We got this one for cheap so its worth it. But, if we had to do it again we would buy a 2 post style lift. Just my thoughts.
Go around to some shops and see what they use. The shops I have been to almost all have the 2 post setups.

I plan on a 2 post, my last place I had a 7k 2 post which worked so so for the EB but I would never put anything heaver on it. I been useing small lifts for 25 years on VW's BMW ect. I just don't have any experence with bigger lifts. I have heard that some perfer a Symmetrical lift when lifting heavy trucks.

I believe you want the symmetrical one if I'm thinking right the asymmetrical one is entended for front wheel drive cars but they will lift trucks I do it every day. The one you want the post won't look twisted and the arms swing 1 forward 1 back and don't fold together

I have a ammco 2in1 9000 and really like it I regularly pick up ccdually powerstrokes with out a problem and have picked up every thing from the lawn mower to the car trailer with it
I like the 2 in 1 design gives you the advantage of both symmetric or asymmetric lifting

Checked them out but they weight almost 1/2 of what a Bend-Pac or Mohawk does. With wt hopefully comes strength and safty

the hardest part of installing the lift is getting off your ass. rent a hammer drill, put the lift up where you want. drill through the holes in the base plate of the rack. blow away the dust. sink the anchors and tighten. the rest is running th cables under the floor plate, or overhead whichever you got. hook up the safety lock cable. fill the motor with fluid, and hook up the 220. bleed pump. lift car.

Maybe i wasn't clear..sorry, i can install a lift done a few. All things being equal a 2800lb lift has got to be stronger than a 1400lb lift .
