: where is timm?
aaron t 04-11-2006, 11:39 AM how do i get ahold of timm cooper?
does he still have bcb?
i call and the phone number on the website is no longer in service.
the reason i ask is that i would like to get one of his kits for the lt 230 what lets me run just rear wheel drive. so i can put in a front end with hub lock outs.
Mercedesrover 04-11-2006, 01:39 PM Still there as far I can tell. The website is still up...

Simon 04-11-2006, 02:33 PM Website =/= an ongoing business. As I understand it, Matthew and Timm have gone their separate ways due to some differences I will not get into here. I could, because I don't really care about burning bridges at this point given my near death experience in my 109 when the steering failed, but I won't. Except that I will say I have no hard feelings or any kind of negative feelings toward Timm at all. I understand Matthew to have gone to work for AA, though I've heard that secondhand. I also understand that the brake kits will continue in manufacture, but I am unsure about the LT 230 kit. It has always been near mythical in terms of availability afaik.

thanks for the info.
the website doesn't help me talk to someone about the ins and outs of what i want. i need to speak to a human:cool2:
Agrover 04-12-2006, 04:41 AM I believe a similar part time LT230 conversion kit together with 5 bolt freewheel hubs are available from AVM in Brazil or any of their international agents.

Not for the sake of gossip. Tell us what happened with your steering. Maybe it can prevent someone from the same mistake.

A couple of guys over here had Warn Industries in the USA make them 2 sets of locking hubs for their 101's. Apparently the PCD of the six hub bolts was identical to a military Dodge Power Wagon, so they were able to make it work with only minor machining and resplining the inner drive member.
They still charged AUS$1000 a pair though.
Bill.

aha! so Ike..all you have to do is buy sets of new warn hubs for power-wagons or whatever, and modify all set! you do he a lathe and mill...and other tools...right?

This is just a guess because I haven't looked inside a Warn Power Wagon hub, but maybe if you didn't mind sacrificing a couple of 101 drive flanges you could make the inner drive member from those and get them case hardened. Or even a couple of diff side gears, if you can get them.
Bill.

aaron t 04-14-2006, 12:26 AM i have a d44 front end, 8 lug, with crossover high steer, lockout hubs and 4.10 gears. all rebuilt and ready for me to make radius arms and bolt in.
getting for very cheap. coutesy of the d 60 craze, nobody wants a measly 44 any more. never mind the fact i could kind of make one live with stock shafts and 38.5 sxs:smokin:
putting a 60 in the back.
i know it isn't very elegant, but the whole swap will cost less than 500.
then i can add an aussie locker in the front 44 and convert the 230 to part time and i am good to go.
probably stick with just 35" trxs muds.
selling out to the 8 lug world.
but hey, as ike said to me "wheeling isn't elegant".
that is why i want to get the little deal to change the t case.
i even have a garage full of toyota drive shaft cv joints. for those of that haven't seen them they are the size of 1 ton spicer units, and can be clearanced for 40 deg angle. same stuff i have in my rock buggy.
i am sure this will be ugly, but it will be fun

We have someone who never comes here who everyone wants to see: Timm
Interesting how that's working out isn't it?
I've been involved with Timm and Matthew and BCB on and off for longer than just about anyone here. If there are things that needed to be said, I think I would have said them by now. Instead I thought I'd just let those guys run their own business and not interject too much.
I have been a big fan of Timm and Matthews work...when it actually gets delivered. IMO the worst thing that happened to BCB's business was when they decided to hook up the phone. Up until that point, everything was good.

aaron t 04-23-2006, 09:11 PM just talked to timm on saturday.
he made fun of me for my silly ideas:D
the idea i have is this....
weld on some flange rings of the same variety of my disco housing to a set of dana 44 end forgings.
weld on a 3/4" thick ring on the end of the d44 hub and drill the 5 on 6.5" wheel pattern.
toy third in the rover housing.
all parts i have on my garage floor for almost nothing.
timms reply "spicer make mass not class".
i am still planning on doing this, so if it fails miserably, so be it.
next option will be to do the same with toy swivels and knuckles.
then run the bobby long stuff.
whay do you guys think?
by the way, the hub design i am talking about will be very similar to the rover coiler hub....rotor bolted onto an inner flange, wheel bolted on the outer.
