No polls for me thanks. Whats popular opinion have to say about running dual cases (toy) behind an sm420 and a 300 hp sbc? I currently have a 20 with a gearset in my cruzah and am preparing to swap to dual cases. Are the toy cases going to be my new "weak link" I have only broke the rear output on the 20 twice before making my own HD output shaft. (once while at just above idle, once while peeling out. - no breakage now, with the big output. Should I be concerned? I am a finesse wheeler, only using the stupid pedal when absolutely necessary. Is the torque going to kill them? Lemme have it!

my rig weighs 3400 lbs
sm420
toy dual case with 4:71 gear in the back case
4.3 vortec motor with mods ( maybe 210 hp )
300:1 gearing available although i rarley use that low.
38.5 sx tires

i expect it to hold up to my abusive driving style just fine.

I have plans (and all the parts) for a similar setup to Camo's:

4.3L
TH350
Toy dual cases
Dual Dana 60's w/ 4.88's
42's

I honestly do not expect any problem out of the cases at all :)

there is a toy truck here in Carson City, it belongs to
PVSTOY on the bulletin board here, he's running a
383 sbc/nv4500/toy tc/ jp eaton set-up and has no
problems that I know of. send him a message he
can give you all the specific details.

I'm glad camo replied. If he hasn't broken one yet I'll probably be fine. I will run turbo cases, because I know a few people who have broken the input shafts.

I talked to rick at OTT when I was thinking of running dual cases in my 4 Runner I'm building and he told me 500HP with dual case would be a bad idea.:( I was even gonna run the 4.7's in 1 case and run the stock in the other. I've decided to do the doubler route.....heavy but strong.....

Actually, I think I recall that he broke a set of Marlin's aftermarket 4.7 gear sets - not the case :p

I don't have the wheelbase for the doubler- that's the reason for the dual toy cases. I'm amazed there's no "get an atlas" comments thus far!! jdjanda: mine output shaft is 1.25" diameter and 29 spline. the ones on the market are like 1.39" with a higher spline count. 1.25" , 29 spline is the same as a dana 60 pinion, so breakage is probably possible but not likely for me.
