Well at the risk of a flame war.. :nuke:

I think their customer service stinks, :flipoff2:

everytime I talked to someone there I am reminded why I dont trade there...

Now, in all fairness, I know some people that have had good success with them, but I would go through Dave @ asian auto parts of Arizona, his prices kick the sh** out of hawk and his service is 2nd to none.. I ordered a rebuild kit from him for my 1300 and then the machine shop f*cked up my bore over.. dave bent over backwards to get me new pistons so that I could make it to the rubicon that year.. totally awsome .. IMHO:D

I've had great luck with them. They have always been helpful and friendly. Back in my Sami axle days, I need some new rubber boots for the tie rods. New Suzuki's are like $35 bucks each, Hawk offered to go pull and send me some used ones for $5.

I can't even find Suzuki parts around here so I mail order almost everything. Hawk is who I call first.

Note: I've never had to return anything, so I don't know what they are like in that department...

Probably my only complaint, when I first bought my Samurai I called Hawk and ordered a valve cover gasket and I told them I was trying to fix an oil leak on the back of the motor. Knowing what I do now, anyone familiar with a Samurai SHOULD have suggested I replace the distributor O-ring! :( I found that info months/quarts later, off of Petroworks' web page! I ordered their $6 'kit' the next day and I've never dripped a drop of engine oil since. :)

I had a good experience with Hawk, got my rear OME springs from them.

They shipped when they said they would and made a point of keeping me in the loop via phone RE: ship date.

I would buy from them again.

I agree Dave is the man for Zuki engines. My Sumo2 head and new cam made night and day difference on my sami. His prices are great also.
I can't say anything about Hawk because I've never purchased from them.

I am stationed in Iceland and threw a rod the other day. I have been working with Hawk on getting me a replacement sent up here. All packages sent here through USPS have to be less than 70 lbs. They have gone way out of their way to weigh the block, crank etc, to see how far they have to tear it down for me to get it shipped. So far they have been great. I'll let you know more when I receive the motor and have it installed. I'll keep you updated.

Hawks is a rip off. Simple as that. My father in law bought a samurai. Neither of us new anything about them then. Took it out and went to shove it in 4wd and the thing kept getting stuck in N. Took the transfer case out and drove the 3.5 hours down to hawks. Told him it keeps getting stuck in N. What does he do? Does he suggest a new shifter sheet? Nope he says well I have a couple of rebuilt cases here I can sell you. So we bought a rebuilt transfer case. I also know of two vendors that he shafted on stuff before they were actually venders.

I dont know much about Dave in AZ but I do know a friend bought a motor from him that was supposed to have been rebuilt, balenced etc. he got the motor shipped to him installed it, it smokes pretty good and has like 5lbs of oil pressure  So he called and they said he'd have a new motor in two weeks, called back in two weeks and he hadnt had a chance to complete the new motor yet. Called back two weeks later, and well he's still waiting for a new one....... :(

I have said it before and I'll say it again Trail Tough is the one place I have gone to where he's talked me out of stuff I didnt need. Customer service is excellent phone, email, what ever.

I've had great service from Hawks. Recently needed a second shift boot, and transmission shifter for the Gnewt - called them, had the parts in a few days. They've always given me excellent service (but I wish Sidekick and GV FSM's weren't so damned expensive). Oh, and their employee, William, knows his shit inside, outside, and upside-down. He's a Zuk guru among Zuk people.

i have been ordering head gaskets and other engine related parts through Hawk. they have been very curtious on the phone and i always have smooth transactions wiht them.

at least Hawk is a proven legit business, unlike the ones that could fold up at any given minute...after they have your money! :mad3:

all of the parts ive ordered... from Trail TOugh. 9/10 of the time I order, I recieve the part the very next day. Probably couple of the time I ve gotten within 2 days. Other than that its all good. Excellent Customer service and knowledges. I wonder if they have a few receptionists or something. Brent's the MAN.

I agree about asian auto. I had the same kinda of run around getting my SUMO II head (took at least 4 months instead of the 2 weeks they said) and then It was even a harder time getting my core refunded. I don't know what the deal was, Asian auto was highly recomended to me. But they won't get any of mine or my friends business in the future.

never dealt with hawks, but I agree about asian auto. Ordered a lift kit through them (the YJ shackle reverse, since they were the only carriers of it), and told them to take their time at first, since I was still gathering parts. 3 months later I ask where it is, and I get some kind of email that its "about to ship out." that went on for another 3-4 months. I was NOT happy.

I must be the luckiest mofo on the planet! I have had great experiences with Hawk & RRO. I have also had extensive work done on my zuk by Dave when I used to live in AZ. All of these guys treated me well - especially Dave at AAPA. He is a great guy and he and his crew put in several long days helping me put Dana's under my ride.

Don't even get me started on RRO. Has anyone checked out there in the works section. I'll quote it from there

" 2.0 Suzuki swap kits??? 130 Suzuki genuine horsepower. Is it coming? You bet! And forget the other guy's kits that cost over $1300 for this swap. Are they nuts? Not just highway robbers. Keep an eye out for our kit and save yourself enogh to drop in a locker.... or two!

1.6 16valve fuel injection harness kits. Once again, the other guys shaft you for $400 for this setup. What a rip-off! AND they require you to send them two complete factory harnesses afterwards. Forget that. We'll send you a new harness and you don't have to spend a full day pulling the factory harness from the 16v donor vehicle. Lower price and save yourself the headache the other guys demand..... Can you feel the love? We got it!"

The 2.0L dont even make 130 HP. Pretty easy for him to bash the price of a product that he hasnt even developed yet. If he does it will probably be a copy of trail toughs. Also Trail Toughs fuel injection package is only $329.00. Not only does the 329 include the wire harness but it also includes the mod to your speedometer, and the adapter kit for the 1600.... :mad3: Also I'm not for sure but I think trail tough only requires you to send in the samurai wiring harness????Oh well 3/4 of the stuff that is on the "in the works" page never comes out anyway.. :shaking:

I called RRO about the 2.0 swap, their technician or the recepitonist... DIDNT even know what I was talking about. I asked him/her (yes a hermadphrodite) over and over to look up the website that's where i found the information. HE/she were like Well, you have to talk to Glenn, I told them, look if you work for them, you gotta be aware of what's going on.

The whole point is, their customer service, and the knowledges... SUCKS. That's my opinion. Also when i ordered some parts from them, it came on time but... pisspoorly packed, missing a couple parts. Had to call them and tell them what's going on. They told me that I should send it back in... except that I PAY for the returning shipping. THAT's BS. I pay for their own ERROR? Even if their the last place everyone would shop at, I WOULDN'T.

I'm sure in person he's nice, but when you're a few thousand miles away from him, your order seems to get forgotten about on a regular basis.

Well, since my first reply to this thread, I waited a week for Hawk to tear the 1.6 down small enough to ship to Iceland through the FPO (all packages had to be less than 70 lbs total and under the military mail dimension requirement) and they shipped it out a week ago. I received all three packagaes today and it all looks great. They labeled all bags individually and meticulously, left me torque values (in case I did not have them), included many extras I did not expect, and the packaging was great. I'll have it up and running by the end of the weekend. I'll post again when I get a closer look at everything, but for now it looks great and you cant beat 2 weeks from order to receipt in Iceland.

just to add my .2 cents to this thread......I have had nothing but good experiences with Hawks and most of the other Zuk vendors that I have ordered from....my only bad experience was with RRO and they also did the same thing with one of my buddies over here.....although it has been over 2 years since I ordered from them.........

I've been dealing with Hawk for five plus years and would rate them as excellent. The
only problem I did have ( a radiator that the UPS chimps damaged)was resolved quickly
by Rick.
