We are AWN! August 23rd & 24th, 2002 at the Platte County Fairgrounds in Platte City, Missouri.

You guys from the greater KC area know all about the annual mud bog at Platte - if not, you have definitely been living in a phuckin' cave. It is THE 4x4 event in that part of the country. EVERYONE goes & EVERYONE races. Previous events have had as many as 100+ entries IN ONE CLASS. Imagine the look of shock on that 19-year-old chick's face a year ago when she discovered that her $20 entry fee netted her $1,050 in prize money :bounce:

Given the overwhelming success of this MMRA sanctioned event, it should come as no shock to find out that there will now be TWO mud races at Platte this year. The first, the annual MMRA event during the Platte County Fair in July. The second one is all mine :smokin:

GUMBO sanctioned TMC VI will start with 6 classes of shallow "Fast Track" racing on the evening of Friday August 23rd. We'll wrap it up with 5 classes of deep "Pit" racing on the afternoon of Saturday August 24th. A guaranteed bonus purse of $3,500 will be put up by yours truly, and the total purse is expected to be well in excess of $10k.

If you're used to the MMRA way of doing things, I do things a bit differently. For starters, the entry fee is $40 per class to run with GUMBO. Don't fret, it still goes back into the purse. The rules are also drawn at different spots at my events. Some folks will really like that, some won't. That's how the phuckin' ball bounces, so no crybabying. If my race looked exactly like the MMRA one, there'd be no reason for BOTH events to take place :)

Need to know more? Check out the details that will be up within 24 hours on my website at www.gumbo4x4.com

For the spectators in the area, it's $12 for adults per day & $6 for kids 6-12. 5 & under are free. It's a little higher than your typical mud race, but the promoter is also bringing in the following monster trucks to perform before & after the mud racing both days:

Bearfoot
Wild Thang
Boogie Van
Monster Patrol
Carolina Crusher
Taurus

Don't want to get messy, but still want to show off your rig - the 4x4 Show N Shine will take place Saturday adjacent to the mud arena. And yes, there are some awards that don't require nice paint. The Show N Shine is going to be judged by a club that is more into wheeling than showing, so their slant should be a bit different than a typical "show" judge.

Need to know more? Just ask. I probably won't respond here for a couple of days, but if you need to know something ASAP, send me an e-mail at: mudslideq78@yahoo.com

Later all,
TEX

Sheesh TEX - think you could have an event closer than a 10 hour drive from me? :(

Well, if you'd checked my schedule, you'd see that the 3 OTHER events I have scheduled so far in 2002 are all closer to ya :D How about Mt. Vernon, Illinois on September 8th? Only downside to that one is that it's "Fast Track" only - no "Pit" classes :(
