Dalton Fabrication has decided to build a "roller" to sell. It will include a 1985 frame, stripped of all of the body mounts. DOM chasis, basic fire wall, pedal mounts, basic floor board, seat mounts, steering box mount, heavy duty front spring mounts, and a couple of cool body mounts.

Basically, all of the "fabrication" will be done, ready to install all of your toyota running gear. The price will depend on how complete you want it. I will take some pictures as we go. We are starting on it today.

Please understand that if you want to compete in the "Formula Toy Series" you will need to build one to spec. You can get the specs at www.formulatoy.com. Basically, it has to have all Toyota pickup running gear.

The front spring mounts are 3/16 on the sides and 1/8" gussets front and rear.

Heavy duty steering mount. Capped on the top for coolness.

These new motor mounts we designed are simple, easy to get to, and easy to install.

It is hard to see but there is a small gusset on the bottom of the tube.

We positioned the motor so the transfer case hangs down 2 inches.

Next up is the fire wall, seat mount and steering mount.

I am eagerly watching. Can't wait to hear an idea of the base price on one of these.

Mine seems to be doing allright. Im still on my first set of u joints:confused:

When i was having that issue in my toy bugy, I talked to marlin and he told me I needed a Cv joint. I installed one and the problem went away. I know they limit your driveline angle, but I threw a limit strap on and it helped me in more ways then one. I think that dropping the t-case 2 inches is a sweet way to handle the problem before it starts.

I lowered Todd's 2 1/2 inches a couple of years ago. You can't tell by driving it other than the u-joints don't clatter any more.

I had the same issue with rear drive lines when I put Toy t-case in my Zuk buggy, In the end I lowered the tranny and t-cases a couple of inches.:)

You guys are right, I do have driveline issuses from the extreme angle at the tcase. I think I just learned to live with it since nothing has broke Yet.

It would fit, but barley. With 39.5's you might have to winch down the suspension a little. But it would fit.

I imagine 39.5 is pretty big for an f-toy. The only reason I would look into it is that I really want a 4 seater and the extra tire height would be nice.

I would say a 38.5x14.5x15 TSL/SX is the biggest I would put on. Optimum is a 37x12.5x17.

The problem you have to face is the tire getting into the chasis. to keep that from hapening you need to move the axle foreward on the front spring and back on the rear leaf spring. You can only get the wheel base soo long with leaf springs.
The only other thing you can do is to raise the ride height and limit the up travel. this sucks for competition.

Also, 39.5's kill toyota ring and pinions.

they are inboarded and are made real similar to the front mount. Notice that it ties into the top of the frame where the material is alot thicker.

You can access the spring bolt from the outside of the frame.

The break and clutch peddles got tacked on for mock up. The passanger kick pannel is almost done. Looks real sweet

these pedals look like they are too far to the right but we intentionally put them in the same exact position as a stock 85 toyota so it will feel the same.

We plan on clearancing the center more so you can remove the trans. Then we will make a small center console.

These are the stock pedals. We have made a mount to weld to the chasis that the stock pedals will bolt to. We also made small tabs to capture the top of the pedal mount.

The fuel injection fits nicely.

What you can't tell from that pics is that the one hole in that plate actually does have a 1/2" hole with a dimple in it. I'll get D-Toy to take some better pics.:D

Note: this is made for a dual case setup so the t-case will be back to where the rear flange is just above the rear tubing. We didn't have an adapter and a second case for moch up.

this framework is completely removable for easy maintenance.

The frame is made out of 1 1/4 x .095 square tubing.

there are 5 mounts and they are made out of 1/8" plate. It is hard to see but we made the mounts with a lower gusset for durability.

You guys are doing some great work, I am watching this thread with great anticipation of the [kick A$$] final results.

Yes, the TinBenders bought the chasis to use for their (our) 2006 buildup/raffle rig. It will be completly finished and raffled off after TDS next year.

Toy2 won the first buildup 2 years ago. As soon as we get our website setup to sell raffle tickets, there will be an announcement.

Axle specs have been determined by Mr. John James himself.

Maybe we can deliver them to the rig at the June WERock?

Because of the height of the chasis, and the fact that we use factory pedal assembly, it takes and extra u-joint to get around the vacuum booster. The factory tilt steering offers the extra u-joint and It's cool :smokin:

And after this morning's little glitch, we know everything has been ironed out. :D

I got a receipt email from paypal that included how many tickets but not the numbers. Not that it matters, the ticket search on the Tin Bender site worked fine.

You should get a second email from the club (Automated-like) and it will have your numbers.

If you don't get it, let me know, and I'll look into the issue.

Paypal receipt email @ 6:07 Nothing from Tin Benders (yet) will let you know if/when it comes in.

Yup. Before being transfered to the paypal site there was a msg that said something about clicking some link when you return:confused: Don't remember excactly what it said, but something about "contribute"?:confused:
Went throught the paypal and was returned to Bender site page that said.

I haven't yet trained who-ever has them, how to enter them online but this year, we do have the technology to post them up, so you can look forward to a post from us, informing you of the completeness of that process.

what about those of us unable to attend the event due to constraints put on by uncle sam? i got quite a few military bucks burnin a hole in my wallet and donatin for the f-toy would definitely be a good reason to spend some $$$. but I'd hate to win and not be eligible for it.

I just tried to buy some tickets through the link, but the "BUY NOW" button is not working. This is after I entered my personal info & number of tickets to be purchased. :confused:

All I can suggest is to make sure that if you have a firewall (For example Windows XP Firewall, or Norton's Personal Firewall) that it isn't stopping you from going forward. The buy now button changes the page from tinbenders.org to PayPal for transaction processing, so some firewalls will try to stop you.
