Ok,it has the bearing pressed on the flywheel that I am replacing but the book[Haynes Manual] says it has one inside the crankshaft. It even goes into detail about removing it with the hydraulic trick.
I could not find one when I removed the engine.
I have never seen one fall out but just wanted to have peace mind because I am putting it back together tommorrow.
Any help would be appreciated.

Only one I know of is on the fly wheel, not sure about one inside the crakshaft. Did you pull the crank, if not then all bearings from rods should still be in place.

I've rebuilt a couple 1.3s and the only one I've ever seen is in the flywheel.:D

There is only one, but that suggests an idea... check and see if there is room for two in there! They are heavily stressed and fail frequently. I mean, the combination of shaft and bearing. The shafts wear out a lot, I'm told from also being worn on the needle bearing end of the input shaft. I replaced the bearing in mine, had the shaft welded back up and turned down to the proper dimension, but then it wore too much again so I put a new shaft in there. Wonder if two pilot bearings would provide more support?

I doubt you would be able to get the crank into two of them though. I think the second one would just be sitting there doing nothing unless I'm mistaken.:D
