Is anyone here running a Coil 3 or 4 link in the rear of their full size Chevy? I am going to try it soon and would like to see some pics and information if anyone has it.

Dude I get the same responses on my Qs.

I've seen a few 69-72 Blazers in a few 4x4 rags, don't have the specifics as that mine are all in storage. Try the major rags and see if they can come up with some back-dated issues. Sorry I can't provide any more than that.

Good luck on your mission.

Try contacting Steve Frisbee of Missouri OffRoad. I can't remember if he did the rear with multi-link but he did do the front of his Blazer. His company is also getting rave reviews & from what I understand; he's open to building almost anything!

Get him through ColoradoK5.com

Came that way from Chevrolet about 34 years ago.

I've done a few on Toyotas and am currently building one on a 79 Ford 4x4. What exactly are you looking for? Let me know.....

Shaker: Im looking for some good pics of the link locations, lengths and angles. also spring rates and lengths and/or what their original application was.

My current plan is to:

Use stock coils from a 00 Cherokee. (already have them) If the rate is not sufficient then I can add air bags.

I will be making a rock ring for the 14 bolt and tying that into some type of truss for the upper links. (similar to avalanche's) Frame mounts for the upper links will have to be mounted to a custom xmember.

Lower links will be using the stock spring hangers for the frame mount and I will fab mounts under the stock spring perches for the axle.

This truck will eventually have a toyota cab on it for weight savings. For now I am going to use the stock 76 Chev cab, no fenders, hood, light weight tube flat bed. See Sig for more info. :usa:

dblazer89: :p that looks similar to this...

tsm1mt: I have been considering using that same same thing. I just happen to know where I can get one for free. (early 2wd truck rear suspension):smokin:

I have been debating over using the trailing arms and mounting them on top of the axle. Thought about using a wishbone for the upper link/locator. The set of trailing arms I have leftover from my Prostreet project are toasted (Rust is the Devil), so I thought about making a set from Rectangle Tubing. If you do go this route, let me know how it turns out. Thanks.

I have seen discussions on here that the roll centre works better up high, as opposed to below the dif, that converging links at the axle would produce.
have the axle links all out at the ends and the converging up at the frame.
Sam's willys showed what low roll center gives you.
his was/is real scary looking with his super soft springs in a few of the leaning pics I have seen.
cool little truck

Well, Im committed now. I have started on the upper spring mounts. I bent some sch 40 1" pipe to form a horizontal loop. Inside this loop I will weld a 1/4" plate with 2" 1/4 wall receiver hitch tubing in the middle. This will allow me to adjust the height of the rear to compensate for load or lift height.

I will post pics tomorrow for those who might be intersted.:usa:

Hey all!

Yes I'm a newby to the sight and buildling a truck so I have lots of questions for the serious off roader. I've been wheeling since I was 12 but now want to get into this with something other than a stock vehicle. I am a ford guy so I ran into a deal on a 74 F series and have started with the body frame mods but now getting into the $$$ with the suspension/gearing. As many of you may have tried to do as well, I am trying to stay on a budget. This truck did have some lift, (4"), added but otherwise is stock. 9"/D44 front. I have been reading online for weeks to get the cheapest, (of coarse), and best set up to make the rig reliable and beefy but not break the bank or a bunch of parts. I have looked at rockwells, gears for my stock axles, D60's, doublers, and so on. Does anyone with some experience with fords have some pointers? Info? I admit I am new but want to make the responsible decisions so I don't kill myself or My rig. I would like to go with 44" tires. The body mods were made for this size or even larger tire. If anyone has any connections/contact info. Please let me know!! Thanks for your time!! happy wheelin!!

WTF?
This thread is 6 years old, and your posting in the Chevy forum asking about a Ford. Move your question to Newbie, or Ford.
