: TJ with RE 5.5 and 1" Body lift Will 37's fit?
UGET IT 04-13-2006, 10:29 AM I will be pytting on 37in MTR's on my TJ that has the RE 5.5 LA lift and a 1" body lift....I will be putting them on 15x10 Allied Bead Locks with 3.75 backspace.
I currently have 35 MTR's and they barly rub the fenders (Plastic ones) I dont think I will have any issue.
Before people say Oh my Gawd your axles will break! I am sure they will but I have alloys and CTM's + OX Lockers. With some attention to driving I think I'll be good to go until the D60's get built:flipoff2:
Any pictures would be great

I here ya. This trip to the Hammers will be my only trip down there this year. Fortunatly I live 40mins from the Rubicon!
Got any details on your suspension setup and what axles are you running?
Looks like you have a D44 up front?
kirbyiv 04-13-2006, 12:34 PM stock tj 44 rear spicer 5.38s detroit with alloy usa shafts (5 on 5.5)
81 waggy 44 front with yukon alloy shafts ctms detroit warn premos and spicer 5.38s
its an RE long arm kit with 4" coils and an antirock sway bar up front. it is very stable, i love how it handles being low and all, but it could use a longer wheelbase
troyman 04-13-2006, 01:37 PM It'll definitely work, just be sure to adjust your bump stops to keep 'em out of the fenders too much. A guy from my club back in CA is running that exact setup with 37" MT/R's. I'm running 5.5" front coils, 4.5" rear and 37" Irok's, I've just set my rig up for more droop than compression.
Petti 04-13-2006, 07:18 PM im running the 5.5" coils no body lift, a little bit of rubbing, but i would chop it and run 4.5"coils if i can find someone to trade...
jeeptjs 04-13-2006, 09:02 PM With poison spider flat fenders i was running 38.5 sx with the 5.5 re springs with no rubbing. I only ran them 2x sidehills were almost unbearable. Switched it out to a 4.5 spring and 1" body and is a night and day difference.
UGET IT 04-14-2006, 11:05 AM Yep I want the 4" coils as well. Should work allot better with almost all situations.
Thanks All.
tweba99 04-14-2006, 11:42 AM I am running IROKS with 4.5 springs and flat fenders in the front and the correct bumpstop with no rubbing and another one of the guys in our club is running the 37" MTR's with the same setup with no rubbing. No body lift on either Jeep.
awauld 04-14-2006, 12:35 PM I'm running the RE 5.5 longarm kit, with 35's, and I don't see why not
UGET IT 04-14-2006, 12:49 PM I'm running the RE 5.5 longarm kit, with 35's, and I don't see why not
I saw your post:)
Hopefully we can hook up for a Rubicon run this summer sometime. :cool2:

I am sure you have already decided based on the responses but I say go for it. Least lift and biggest tires possible. I know someone on 4" and 37" MT/Rs.
My rig has RK 5.5" lift with limit straps and bump stops all adjusted to minimize interference, 37" Creepy Crawlers (so they are actually damn close to 37" unlike say an MT/R :D ). If I were keeping this suspension I would be hunting down 4" coils. I trimmed the front fenders (poorly :flipoff2: ) and have a comp cut now so no real rubbing except under silly twistedness.
Oh yeah, 4:1 in the xfer case, 4.88 gears, D44 Detroit rear with 33 spline CrMo Superior axles and D30 front ARB with 30 spline CrMo Alloy USA stub to stub. I have broken Spicer outers, and Yukon alloy inners and Yukon front ring & pinion but never the Alloy USA stuff. My rear D44 Yukon gears are holding up just fine. Although I have Super Joints I haven't installe dhtme. No destroyed u-joints since installing the Alloy USA stuff. Go figure. Although the r&p gets the crap kicked out of it.
I really think the lower gearing helps save breakage so long as you don't get bound up. I'd be at 150:1 if I could. Watch the ball joints and the unit bearings on the D30 with the 37s because they will wear fast. Same with all the TREs. I run whatever 4.0 through 5.0 rated trails I can with the 94" wheelbase. I just pray a lot. :D
Soon...D60 or hybrid HP D44 but until then the poor D30 will have to do it.
Have fun.
