who would win.. i think the banshee would get the hole shot but raptor would end up smoking a banshee... also both bikes considerd stock

which ever has more stickers will
I had banshee and a friend had the raptor....He got me for about 50 or so feet until I got on the pipe, then......bye bye....both stock bikes. 2strokes for ever!!!!!!

bone stock right off the yamaha floor the raptor would beat the banshee.
put exhaust on them both and the banshee will walk the raptor.
any mods after it will be exponetial on the distance the banshee puts between it and the raptor.
my 370 long rod banshee beat every single craptor that ever dared to stick a wheel next to me at sand mountain.
i even raced that one that trinity brought out. it was pretty fast. he would hang with me for about 3/4 the way up drag hill.
i am told that raptors handle really good though.

I concurr. My banshee is still largely stock but there is no way any of the guys with raptors that I know would be able to compete with it.
Slightly off topic, but have you guys seen the pics of the raptor chassis with a banshee motor in it? It looks pretty clean.

the raptor does handle like a dream. 660cc and only weighs 398 pounds. not sure how much the banshee weighs but i doubt its that heavy. I think banshees only smoke other quads in the sand because there two stroke .. but the raptor is one badd ass high speed trail quad :D and for the 370 or whatever bored out banshee.. race a bored out raptor or a alba raptor : ) probably will be alot closer. i wanna racethe new 700 raptor F.I. on my 660.. see what happens..
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
why stroke it twice when you can stroke it 4 times?

i raced plenty of bored out, ported, camed, big carbed raptors. i beat them all.
the really highley moded ones, (like the one trinity brought out to race,) came closer but they were still getting sand blasted by about 3/4 the way down the strip or less.
raptors are cool, don't get me wrong, but if you want ultimate speed without wedging a street bike motor in the frame, the banshee is where it's at. there is just so much after market goodies for them, and most has been tested and tried. so it's easy to find out what works best.
but then again i sold my banshee back in 2004 and i've been out of the quad scene for a while now. there could be some better stuff for the raptors now. i don't know. :smokin:

IMHO you are comparing apples to oranges. Why not compare a big bore banshee motor to a big bore raptor?
BTW-A banshee can be used as a trail quad with no problems. I ride mine around in the woods and idle for hours at a time. It is every bit as ridable in those situations that you could put a raptor into but faster.
The myth about 2 strokes being unreliable is BS. A properly cared for and tuned 2 stroke is just as good and reliable as a 4 stroke is.

people only say two strokes are un reliable because if you ride them like :rainbow: then you will foul plugs more often. most people who start those rumors are a bunch or idiots who cant ride.

None of my 2 strokes have fouled plugs and depending on the situation they idle lots and operate at low speeds too.
I think most of these rumors aren't started by people who can't ride as much as by people who can't keep a bike in tune. It isn't rocket science and doesn't take too much work.

anyone race the new 700 raptor? i just got one and its considerably faster then the old 660! i raced a friends banshee the other day and his has pipes, reeds boost bottle and mine is bone stock not even broken in. we were about even when he hit the powerband but then i pulled away no problem! off the line i smoked him:D

i didnt believe that until my friend brought his up the other day with us in the woods! his is completly setup for sand but it did surprisinly well in the sticks, untill he hit some water and kept crappin it out! but that was his fault bc the way he had it set up(open element filters!)

I have both in my shop right now and i prefer the raptor for what i do! I do a lot of technical low speed trail riding, i tried it on a banshee but u have to be a little heavy on the throttle! I love the banshee on terrain where i can just crack'er open and let her fly but thats about it for me... its all on the user ridin preference.

I agree with this 100%. Everybody has their own preference based on how they ride and how their quads are set up.
One question about the banshee that you were riding though. How was it geared? If the guy liked to ride in the dunes it was probably geared pretty high for the woods which would do just what you are talking about-needing to stay on the throttle quite a bit. Mine is currently geared for sand and high speed but I also have different sprockets that I could use if I decided to really play around in the woods. It makes a huge difference.

Ridden both in sand and on tight trails. I'll take the Raptor any day on the trails, Banshee just didn't have enough suspension under it and there was a lot more throttle work involved. In the sand I'd probably go with the Banshee. A modified banshee and it's not even a question in the sand, with that said if I were to purchase one I'd buy the Raptor simply becasue I ride more technical trails than dunes.

i heard that the new 700 f.inj raptor had a few flaws from lack of testing? i didnt knwo what they were but i guess some things were still kinda wrong when they started selling them....id like to get one but id rather spend the money getting mods for my 660 :)

Raptor = Most highly over-rated quad ive EVER ridden
Banshee= One of the more under-rated quads out there.
My Z400 can beat a raptor but not a banshee. This is from experience. Dragraced a raptor and won 2 of 3 races. Drag raced his buddy on a banshee and lost all 3. Displacement is nothing. Raptors are crap :shaking: Sure am glad i did my research before i bought a quad or I would have ended up with a raptor

Sounds to me like the guy on the Raptor couldn't ride worth a shit. Couple buddies have Z400's and I could beat them with my mostly stock Raptor when I had it, One of the Z400's was tuned and pumped as it could get -big bore. I'm not saying Raptors are the fastest thing out there but I guarantee stock they can smoke Z400's.
YFZ450 will smoke all of these bikes on a consistent basis.

i wanna meet this idiot riding the raptor. we have a 06 z400 and my raptor is a 01' and i dont care who is riding the z400 it still wont touch the raptor. only thing i like about the z400 is how easy it wheelies, which sucks when you want to accelerate quickly..
I think its cool my thread has gotten more replies then any otyher in this forum, kinda sad since its been around since like 03'

i dunno... im just talkin from my personal experience. Even riding the raptor it didnt feel like it had much to offer. high center of gravity too which made it feel unstable. Not sure on the year of it.
And i can accelerate quick and not wheelie if i want to. Just depends what your used to riding. But anyways back to the original topic, I wish there were more banshee's out there. They go like a rape tape and sound awsome when they're piped.
P.S. i wish Honda would bring back the 400ex... the 450's are FUGLY!

i got a 400ex and love it.......just never have time to ride it much...
I hate the raptors...they dont ride good, to high center of gravity. In fact the only yamaha quad that i do like is the banshee....the banshee is a good quad. I just have always like how the hondas ride alot more than many of the new quads..... besides that, you take a 400ex and bore it to 440 and some other mods it will take the raptor all day long

you should ride the new raptor 700.. they put the YZ450 suspension on it, lowered the center of gravity and overall stance, made it a little wider and longer, and put dual piston brakes.. way better than the ol' 660! and way more power... i can do wheelies in 3rd no problem!:flipoff2:

my dad has the new raptor 700 and as far as torque goes theres no way you can keep the frontend on the ground with that thing it definently blows every stock bike away in a strait line drag race and it makes a graet trail bike but in my opinion after riding it it felt way top heavy in the corners. well heres another question my predator 500 with a pipe and rejeted against a 1995 ss impala i know its a little off topic but this kid in my auto shop class just wont stop talkin smack so i told him i'd race him 1/8 mile

i really didnt think anyone rode xr 100's anymore.. if anyone lives near this tard and thinks he's as :rainbow: as he sounds, race his A$$ and then backhand him for me.. i also love that he has like 2000 or more posts and spelled doubt like a doughnut..lol it sounds like hes joking but whatever. also if you wanna get into the " fastest quads" then you wouldnt have to look any further then the sandpile. if you wanna start talking about flatout break neck speeds then the drag quads are what you want. no sponsorships there, just plain crazy power and time and money into bikes..

I own both a z400 and a raptor 700... stock for stock the 700 walks the z400... as far as banshee's go, I've won a few and lost a few on my 700 (now a 734 gt28 based turbo kit)... it basically comes down to rider skill, you could have higher hp atv but if you can't ride for crap, you'll probably end up losing.

ive got a built raptor 660, bored, piped, stage 1 cam, dropped a tooth on the sprocket, etc etc. My brother has a midly built banshee, head shaved, vitos pipe, carbs, boost bottle, dropped tooth etc etc. I can smoke him off the line and up through the gears. He blew it up and put in a big bore kit, I can still take him up to 3rd gear, then he gets me up top now.

I currently own 2 four wheeled atv's , one of which a 04' Raptor with about 6 hours on it. I would have to say that the raptor is the most over rated , ill handling pile of shit I've ever road. It brings new meaning to the words
"top heavy" , it makes my dads BigRed ATC look like a ProTT ride ! !
My raptor has a full LRD kit, pipe, carb, cam and ign. box. It runs good enough but I'd trade it in a minute for a stock Banshee of the same year!
Why would I have a two year old ride with that much money tied up in it just sitt'n in my garage? Because next to it sits a 88250R with a CT310 kit , long arms and Elka's that will smoke that Raptor with x2 the cc's.
The real king --Fourtrax :flipoff2:
Before the TRX I had a 96Banshee with a Trinity 370 that was a woods rocket! A built Banshee is the most fun you can have with your pants on!

I'm glad you came to that conclusion
You have restored some of my faith in the future of todays youth to "think"
Now you just gotta do somthing about that Jeep
To truly be "faster" one must have speed and ability
A wise saying I heard a long time ago ....... "Speed costs MONEY, give me enough money and I'm make a coffee table qualify for the Indy 500"
And then theres ability........ (and another old quote that fits)....... "90% of ability is half mental"
So you see, it really is a open question with no real answer, kinda like .......... "If a woman is walking alone in a forest...... does she still think she's fat?" :D
