Im in the process of putting 5.13 ring and pinions in my samurai. Got the ring gear all torqued down, the only thing holding me up is tightening the pinion gear. What are yalls secrets? It seems absurd that i have to put 500 ft lb of torque to crush the sleeve and them a mere 6 in pounds to set the load. Can anyone give me some tips on this? Would it be better to use an impact to start the crush and then finish up with a big breaker and then the torque wrench? And when it is properly set how freely should just the pinion turn?
