never done it before, but read online and directions, easy enough or so i thought.

i took the cover off getting ready to pull the pinion shaft so i could remove the c clips. well, no bolt to remove the pinion shaft just a piece of metal (dowel) banged into the hole where the hold down screw should be. look through my generic manual and apparently 90 has the screw for the pinion shaft and i guess mine doesn't.

does my 88 even have c clips? how am i supposed to remove the pinion shaft?

tks

your 88 does not have C-clips...(this is a good thing) there are 4 nuts behind the axle flange on the end of the axle that hold the axle in... unbolt then and pull the axles out... If you dont follow, its exactly like a D44.

Drive the pin out with a punch. It may be eaiser to remove the whole carrier so you can do the work on a bench. Just make sure that everything goes back in exactly where it came from.
