I am going to be moving my rear axle on my '78 CJ7 back about 3-4 inches soon. I've read lots about this and how the gas tank needs to be moved due to interference during suspension compression. No biggie, I just put in a fuel cell in the bed. But I have not heard or read anything about the rear cross-member interfering. I'm hoping that is because it won't. However, I did some measuring today and it looks like it will be very close. For those of you that have done this to your CJ7, is this a problem or should I not worry about it?
Thanks

No problems here on a spring over, plenty of room. Moved back 4" with a D60.

14 bolt moved 8" back with links. I actually botled round snubber stops to the bottom of my x-member over the links. works great

Cool, thanks guys. At 8" back I would think you are beyond the "danger zone" of cross member interference, but its still good info.

Are yins using different leaf springs mounted in the stock locations that have a weird centering pin location? Like wagoneer rear springs I think? Or do yins move the spring mounts themselves rearward on the frame?
