I hope TroutRover gets his vehicle back unharmed and soon. The contrast between Australia and the USA in this regard is interesting.
Series LandRovers, 110's and Defenders are considered so undesirable here that you could leave your truck in a busy shopping centre car park with the keys in the ignition and a sign on the window saying "please take" and the chances are it would still be there two weeks later.

When the local constabulary showed up to tow my 109 away outside Manchester, the cops couldn't believe that trucks like ours are desirable in the US.

In the unlikely event it shows up to be worked on, I've got my eyes open too.

Truck has been located. Christian and I headed out to the woods to see it before it was towed into town. Theives gutted the dash and electrical system, stole the winch among other things (like the sunroof?????). We were picking up bits of defender strewn all over for about an hour. Luckily the body is still good and the drivetrain is all there.

Maybe the insurance money, will allow you to upgrade the vehicle and this will be a positive outcome. I am so sorry to hear of the loss. If it were my vehicle, I only can imagine how sad/frusrated I would be. I am glad to hear that the bulk of the vehicle was found and recovered. Best of luck

It's just like an amateur thief to steal something and then take parts off that they could have gotten at Autozone.

Electrical system? Yeah, we all know how in demand it is on the black market.
