Im only working outside because its nice out here, finally. :p

The stock flares were really rusty. The front right especially, the others not so bad. There was also a lot of rust underneath so I did the virtual lift thing, but I'll still have to weld in a patch I or two per side. I haven't done any of the bodywork yet, just cutting and pounding. I HATE welding Suzuki sheetmetal. I know this from when I made my half doors. :barf:

How should I mount the TJ flares? I dont think duct tape is a good long term solution.

Yes the green thing will get painted or replaced. :flipoff2:

I don't know how the inside of the flare looks but is it possible to rivet it with SS rivets? Maybe weld sheet metal into the inside of the wheel well (so the flare has something to rest on and drill through the top of the flare? If all else fails, double sided tape works wonders! :smokin:

How is the flare originally mounted on the TJ? Is it possible to copy the mounting configuration? I know you said you hate welding zuks but I don't see too many options.

Rivets will probably work. hopefully theres enough room in the flare for my rivet gun. There is enough fender left, its just that there isnt really access for the nuts. No big deal really. I'm sure I'll figure something out no problem.

Don't be a fag. If your post padding ass doesn't have something at least constructive to say, then get the fawk out of my thread.:flipoff:

if theres the cahnce youll be rubbing teh flares againt trees, rocks, exc, think hard about zip-ties. with them, the ties will breack before your flare, saving both.

I like the ziptie idea. A friend of mine had the stock plastic bumper on his Taco ziptied on for over a year.

If you can figure out how to clamp it firmly to the body using zip-ties, I.E. having the ziptie go through one hole in the flar/body, behind the fender sheetmetal, out a second hole, and then cinch the ends together... I think it'd work just fine. Just as long as they don't flop around at 60 kPh. ;)

Big pop rivets work well, even against trees:

I used self tapping screws and washers to attach them to the fenders... very stout:smokin:

I had the flares on my YJ bolted on. But everytime I would rub against a rock it would destroy the flare as I ripped it off. Then I started using Zip Ties. Now when I hit something the flare pops off with no damage. You just gotta know when they fall off.
