Anyone know of a lock for a Bulldog type hitch? I want to be able to lock it when it's on the hitch ball.

Thanks for any help,
NIB

Don't see anything on that page that will secure the bulldog style coupler. I think he wants something other than the type that goes through the latch since the wire rods connecting the latch to the collar can easily be cut.

I have a bulldog hitch on my trailer and I use the through pin type, just like
in the link.

Here's what my bulldog hitch looks like.

Thanks for the replies, but I don't think any of those will work with what I have. I something like a 3" long 5/16" rod with a locking mechanism on one end. I think.

I think the only one here that fits the bill so far is the one Non Urban posted. I've got a pintle on my trailer and I've been toying with the idea of making a lock for it (when it is stored on the street - 95% of the time). Right now I just chain my wheels.

Here's a patent for what NIB needs-

http://freepatentsonline.com/6976695.pdf

Allows locking while hooked up to the tow vehicle, gets rid of the weak link of the way the collar is secured.

Existing couplers are normally provided with a separate cylindrical retaining pin which is insertable into a side hole rearward of the sleeve collar to prevent the rearward movement of the collar when the coupler is in the closed position. However, there is no means for positively locking the collar in the forward closed position to prevent the unauthorized insertion or removal of a hitchball. Further, the retaining pin is easily lost from the side hole.

Thanks for the responses. That patent is probably the closest thing to what I want.
