Im going to be moving my rear axel back and need some advice on how far is good.
Im running full width axel out of a 1975 J20 jeep PU.
Dana 60 rear & 44 front, but may up grade to 60 in front.
I included a link to some pictures & some video from Hollister so you see what im dealing with. It seems that I may have to go to a taller tire also, with my 35's im draging the 60 on every thing.

Thanks guys.
Guy

i stretched about 9 inches, anywhere from 6-9 would be what to shoot for, if you are doin a basic stretch.

what bout the gas tank, it needs to be moved if you wanna go back any more then about 4 inches, figured that out after i kept knocking the skid with the top of the diff at full compression.

I think I can get it back about 8 inchs if I make a bigger bumper and go to the back of it. Is that what you guys did for the extra lenth?

The gas tank has been moved. We built a stanless tank and dropped it down through the floor about 2 inchs short of the bottm of the fram rail. I hope thats high enough, our I may need to pull it up some. What are you thoughts?

Thanks guys

Nice looking rig... Might want to stretch the back a few inches, as well as the front. The approach angle on your rig looks a bit shallow, at the end of the vid the front is digging, and bumping before the tires hit... Just my .02...

2 - 3 inches in the front will make a difference... But, like you were saying, some bigger tires will help your approach too.

My friend has 37" on a SUA4" stock wheel base up front and his approach angle is much better than mine at 35".
Thanks also for the PM. I'm going to be about 74" wide I think. :)

well as the gas tank issue, you would have to cycle to suspension and see if it hits, it is flush with the frame rails, where it bows up, then you should be alright.

Another thing i noticed in your vid... Are you running any bump stops? If you are not comfortable with the clearance between the rear axle and gas tank after you raise it you could limit your rear axle flex some...
