So now that my doors are bashed, dont lock right, take 3 times to close, dont roll up after being rolled down all the way, have enough loose parts inside to make me cringe to think about, I decided I want to take them off for the summer and make a set of half doors or tube doors. By useing the kiss method I hope not to screw up, anyone got any idea as how to hook it onto the locking piece? I noticed yoters have a simple bolt they can pass through but its just not as easy on the scout
:bounce: :bounce::confused:

Easy!!, make a template, leave enough material to reuse the door hinges, and latch assembly.

Make the cut out, use a sawzall, jig saw, what ever. Cut out the pattern, weld on the filler material. Done...

You can see the rear striker plate.

Where the big "holes" are is where the massive hinges bolt to.

Those seem to be the best pics I have..

Here's the steel doors on:

And SSII inserts.

Hey Tom, why don't you just get a spare tire for your racer, instead of using an engine hoist. That hoist doesn't fit in the back of your rig nearly as well as a simple spare tire would, and I bet you can't go faster than about 20 or 30 that way.....

So pretty much, it's the same a my 80 (Looks like it from your great pic:D )

Snow (hey, anyone remember the singer Snow? "Informer....":D   :) :( :barf: ),

Anyway, why not use a section of flate plate the bolts or is welded to the inside of the body near the striker. Then make som sort of latch? Or even a large Hinge that can be moved out of the way, when you put the doors back on...make sense?

Yeah, well, I don't own a ramp, and I'd already hauled this car off to the junkyard.. so I had to use the hoist to check travel. :flipoff2:

And yes, we do do weird stuff up here. :D

We've got some tube doors in production right now.... I'm gonna test em out on a couple Scouts before we release pics or anything else... but give us a couple weeks and we'll have em available! We're starting a new company... specializing in Scouts...
and one of our goals is to release 2 new products a month... and we're gonna do it for a lot cheaper than most of the other fab shops around.

yep, time for POR to go down the drain again :D :D

Not sure howmany girly pics I got... have to develop the film.... didn't spend *too* much time at the beach though... to busy exploring the island. I did however drive the crap out of my rental heep. No really good off-roading there, but rutted dirt roads and a right foot <g>.

Never seen so many lifted trucks though... and swampers the tire of choise. Probably for mud. When it rains there, the red dirt HAS to get SUPER nasty...... slick, heavy and gooy.....

I suffered for you all.... so none of you need to go on vacation now :flipoff2:... ain't I such a great guy :D
