Building a set of 60s for my rig. Got a line on a new Detroit for the front, but it's model 225SL29B, which is for 4.10 and numerically lower. I want to run 5.13s in this axle. Can't a just purchase the thick ring gear and make it happen with this Detroit? Hope so, it's a screaming deal.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Yes, if they make a thick ring gear in that ratio. Or you can get ring gear spacers - Mr Gasket and others sell them for about $30.

Precision makes the gears to fit for the hi-pinion (Ive got a set sitting in my living room floor :D ). Not sure about a low pinion D60 tho. Not sure what you have.

Yep! I just picked up a ring gear spacer for my front 60 for about $35.

Sorry, it is a Ford HP D60 front. Any strength or other issues with running the thicker ring gear that I should be concerned about?

Then your in luck...I have been told that all after market gears for a RC60 are thick gears....I'm using my stock RC60 carrier for 4.56's;)
