: Where to find 68-72 Chevy C-10
Flatty 04-16-2006, 09:36 PM Where would i find one of these trucks. I just sold my Cummins tow rig, and I want something I can work on and fix up myself (but still using it as a tow rig). Where would I find this truck? It would have to be a 4wd, and under $3000. I don't care if the body is beat, or if it needs work. I have ALWAYS loved these trucks, and now I can get one.
Thanks
Dima

Flatty 04-16-2006, 10:08 PM That is funny. I do love them, but I can't find any for a descent price.

I told him you were very interested and asked him to please call.
Hope it works out for ya.
4x4Poet 04-17-2006, 09:56 PM Flatty, the 4.57 gears are a farely rare option. They would enable the use of large tires without gearing changes since it has a granny geared SM465 (could be leftover SM420). Just trim the fenders for and aft at the bottoms so you can keep the lift mild and tow friendly.
The truck likely has an Eaton H052 rear axle with the drop out third member. I'm almost positive since I can see the housing under the truck in one of the pics. You can detroit that axle easy. Randys Ring & Pinion sells most of the 3rd parts. Brakes (11")/hubs out are available thru parts stores. If you get it, PM me for 67-72 threads on the Eaton.
The trucks main drawback is front drum brakes and, IIRC, closed knuckle D44. I think the 327 is a plus, but maybe not for towing a Cruiser. No matter. An engine swap is cake. Even CTDs.
The price seems fair, but check for rust around the rockers, kick panels, cab supports, and cab corners.
Hope you get it. If you do, I recommend the board linked. Great board full of helpful folks and detailed info.

Now this is what I am talking about. The truck DOES have the rust at the bottom of the cab in the back. I will not be towing with this for a WHILE because the ruiser is nowhere near being done. Iwill swap in a BB when I get ready to tow. I was thinking about getting the parts together for a Th400 and a 205 swap, but that may come with the BB... I will head up there this Friday to check it out.

1967K10 04-18-2006, 06:22 AM That orange truck is pretty nice looking for the $$$$. Like 4x4poet said swaps are easy. My brother and I are doing a CTD swap into his 67' K20 :cool2: .Hopefully it will be up and running within the month.
4x4ever 04-18-2006, 04:02 PM So did the guy give ya a call yet?

Davethorik 04-18-2006, 08:46 PM definitely ditch the rockwell transfer case. if you don't, or can't right away, be sure to check its oil level every day.

I did speak to him. If I could get my ass up there, I would probably get it, but I can't get up that way for over a week, and I am sure it will be gone by then. Still searching.
