Who cares - as long as they are posting stuff on their board. This falls under the same category as not posting links and crap on JU. Let them be, and they'll let us be.

On the other hand, posting pictures of upside down xterras here is entertaining.

Lance,
Don't worry. I'm not going over there to start anything (I've been banned not once, but twice from that website. Last time was b/c I didn't agree with Ian that a clinometer was useful for predicting a rollover!?!).

I agree with whoever said, just let them be. I just thought it was interesting how people's character changes when they think no one is around. Superjens says one thing here, and another at XOC. That's BS, and I'm just calling him so the guys on THIS site know what's up.

Hey congrats on Farmington. I heard you and Mike worked together really well. Good luck at the next event.

Damn, you guys ain't wastin' any time ;)

Hey, I don't know if anyone wasted the time to read all 5 pages of shite on that site, but they think tread lightly includes not scraping rocks with our steel bumpers/diffs/sliders. Seriously, since tread lightly says that you should leave the trail as you found it (taken to the extreme) rock scraping isn't following tread lightly nor is leaving rubber marks on Moab's slickrock. We really need to see about changing that or EVERY rock trail in the country should be closed due to rock scraping.

Oh, btw, the link at the top should work now. I think I fixed it.

David,
I read what you wrote on XOC. I'd recommend you delete it. You and I are VERY much alike (I think you'll agree) and your reply is a very good one. However, you are entering into a discussion with someone (xoc-Ian) that cannot hold a rational discussion based on the facts at hand. He cannot refute each item and when he's losing the argument, he throws childish insults rather than discussing the issue at hand. Eventually, you'll be banned for no real reason. My humble recommendation is to just delete it and not waste your time with him. He's not worth it.
Two cents,
Sean

PS. If you do continue, I'll definitely read it. It should be pretty damn entertaining if nothing else. ;)

David,
I know you will be cordial and polite as well as factual. I was pretty much all of that with Ian, even after the personal insults. What you fail to realize about that site is that the people that go there are freakin' sheep. They follow Ian blindly. They don't question any of his BS. There are only a few people there that are worth the time. I guess my point is don't go there expecting to change anyone's mind. Most (notice I said most; not all) of the people on that site are the most narrow minded bunch of self proclaimed 4wheelers I've ever had the misfortune to meet. Good luck with it though.
Take care,
Sean
PS. I read the latest installment on that thread. Just thought you'd like to know: I was not banned for anything violating the "Terms of Service" as someone stated as the only reason to ban someone. Basically, it boiled down to I kicked Ian's butt in an argument, and he didn't like it. He doesn't like anyone that he feels threatens him with more knowledge about wheeling. Watch out. YOU definitely fall into that category.

As a full size mudbogger I am use to having run-ins with the arrogance of rock crawling Jeep owners. Its funny to me that the rockcrawler would have a nemesis that they would call "arrogant". I went to the site and read a few pages. Hell, I didnt know people like that existed!!! They are truly freaks far more worthy of ridicule than me and my redneck mullet wearing brothers (I actually dont know anyone with a mullet...anymore). Hell before I came to the Pirateboard I thought when you guys rolled over and spilled your coolers they were full of mineral water. Now I know there is a Mullet in all of us, just waiting to grow out!! I will take up arms with you (over some beer of course) to battle these Xterra freaks!! i really like the idea of those people having there own board. that way they can talk about how cool there pavement pounder is and how 'extreme' they are. i dunno why there has been so my flaming involved, personally i think we should just let them be, from what i understand there really isn't a huge number of these 'hardcore' xterra owners running around. anyhow, internet flaming is lame, if you really wanna get the point across, wait tell you see one of these clowns fawkin up a trail IRL then you can deside whats fit to do with them :D :D

My take on this whole Xterra thing is this.

About the time most land rover and range rover owners come around and somewhat stop pointing their noses into the sky...
Nissan goes out and creates this new 4wd grocery getter with a firstaid kit. next these Nissan creations attract a cross between star trekkies and econo snobs that feel they have recreated the whole concept of offroading.

It's only a matter of decades before the blue book value drops and all the payments are made on these exterras then these wacked out grocery getter owners discover wrecking yards and welders.

I might be giving tyhem too much credit with that last statement sorry :D

I was puzzled by the fact that they seemed to use the term "redneck" in a derogatory way. I am reminded of the Jeep guys that turned down assistance from us because it was a Jeep thing that Landcruiser guys (3 of us) wouldn't understand. I replied, "What being broken down on the trail," hopped back in the 40 and finished the day trail riding. Poepl, people, people there are some in this world that need to get over themselves.

As much differences that may exist between the worlds, these people are also our allies in the battle to save trails. Well, I was banned over at the "xterra owners club" NOT for anything I said there (in fact, it had been quite a while since I had posted anything there. I think the last post was to see if anyone wanted to run Raw Deal or Martinez Canyon with me), but I was banned for posting stuff OVER HERE! Isn't that rediculous? I sent Ian a PM and asked him to come wheelin with me and maybe we could settle our differences on the trails, but haven't gotten a PM back? Could he be scared or something? The Pathfinder isn't exactly the most trailworthy rig (ask crawler#976! I stripped a torsion bar anchor on basically the first obstacle!), but it can dish out quite a bit for being IFS.. (Coincidently, I have been meaning to get in touch with Kong's to get them to build me a spring hanger and shackle hanger for the swap.... Went yesterday but he was out running errands)
I'm glad you guys dish it out to the Xterras. All the other Nissan owners gotta deal with their huge heads. It's about time someone came along and popped a few balloons..

Well Said! Even though I think these guys are whining, arrogant bitches, If I saw one of them broken on the trail I would stop and lend a hand. We are all in this sport together, and we do have SOME common goals. They think we are "REDNECKS" we think they are "WHINING BITCHES", OK, whatever.

Once again, if one of them was broken, I'd offer to help. If they were cocky, I'd treat them like an obstacle and look for the best line over the hood....., But it would be on a case-by-case basis.

Michael, I couldn't agree more with what you wrote when you're speaking of every single club, 4x4/offroad website, etc. I've ever met with or visited; EXCEPT the Xterra Owners Club. These guys think scraping rock with your bumper constitutes damaging the environment. Hell, before I went to their site and basically stated the same thing as you just did above, they didn't even have a Land Issues forum. Even now, it is barely used.

You have several owners over there that don't even go on trails, and bash those that do b/c they spent $20K on a vehicle and wouldn't dream of "tearing it up". No, these guys *most* are not interested in keeping trails open. They are too busy whining about spelling/grammar and arguing amongst themselves to have any interests in keeping trails open; especially ones they never plan on using.

From someone who spent some time there,
Sean
