Allmost done with mine.
4.3 Vortec TBI ,hp Chip , custom wirering harness, custom modified headers ,duel exhust,TH 350 Auto, NP 203 splitter box, Custom adpter, Dana 300 T/C home modified drive shafts, 4/10 toy Diffs. Running a little over 200 HP and around 300 FTlbs tork (or so I've been told) Got it running but still have to make some traction bars and finish up some wiring and other assorted odds and ends. Plan on it taking TWICE as long and COST TWICE as much as you now think!!!!!:shaking: I estimate I have around 3K in the conversion. Will not be home several weeks so it's on hold for now!!!! Good Luck!!!

Shouldn't be too hard, if you're just going to slam it in.:D

I'm gonna try a 4.3v6, and 2 trannys-the choices are sm465,420,435. and then a dana 18. what if it's all mounted to some custom frame rails that fit inside the stock ones and it's all hinged at one end and held up at the other end by a couple of big bolts? that would be easy to work on, right? I could just slam it in! :D :smokin: :smokin:

You can get an adapter to bolt anything to a 4.3 block. Could even use a t-56 to a stock sammi case if you wanted

465/205 is stronger, but the dana 20 has more gearing options.

Has anybody tried the 4.3 with a toyota trans and t-case? Is this setup not as strong as an all GM driveline?

pretty sure it's been done, but probably not in a zuk... take a look on the toy forum and you might see something.

I've gone SM420 and Dana 300 Tcase from a late CJ with my 4.3. I've cut the tunnel to hell, but otherwise managed to get it in without any frame mods or body lifts. Everything is very TIGHT though.

You could also run a T-5 and a Dana 300 combo. While its not the greatest tranny, they are cheap and easy to work on.And of course, the Dana 300 is just awesome.Thats the exact setup I run in my Sammy, except it being spun by a 2.8L V-6 instead of the 4.3L.....yea,its not the legend that the 4.3L is,but the later years were pretty good and Ive got low miles,a full freshening up on the motor and 2 years of trouble free use so far.
BTW,if your running straight TBI,then its about 12-14psi for the fuel system. The CPI/Vortec 4.3L engines run standard 45-50 psi sytems. For my stock TBI setup,I just used the factory carb gastank with an external Holley TBI fuel pump. The wiring was super easy with a Painless Wiring TBI harness and the stock ECU.
