Okay i have been reasearching and gleening posts about the Np-205 nuke proof cases.

I would like to compile a complete set of definitives and make a page on my website about them.

This all got started while searching for a Married Chevy NP-205 with the 6 bolt round bolt up to go behind my Klune-V. I still need to find one with the short input that is 32 spline in/ 32 spline rear output/ 32 spline front output.
I am willing to convert a 32 in/32 rear out, 30 front out to 32 front output if needed. Any leads are appreciated. This is for Project X.

http://www.backcountrybinders.com/project_X.htm

So what i know is this case came in 87,88,89 Chevy 1 tons with the Turbo 400. Any others??

I want to make a spread sheet for Chevy/ Dodge/International/ and Jeep with info like:

30 spline input/? rear output/ ?front output = Turbo 350

32 spline SHORT in/ 32 spline rear out/ 30 spline front out= Turbo 400

32 spline LONG in/ 32 spline rear out/ 30 spline front out= Turbo 400

ETC

Help with this if you can. It will benifit all when i get the page built.
If you have a link send it to me, i mean if someone has done this why do it again.

not really related to your question but my NP205 has been reliable but the damn adapter from the SM465 to the tcase keeps cracking! :mad3:

As far as i know, no chevies ever came with a 32 spline front output. The common conversion is to take a ford 205 case, and swap the front output shaft into the chevy. I believe you have to change a bearing and a seal, but not the retainer. Off Road Design has a writeup on their site with more details. The 30sp front in the chevies is supposed to be 98% as strong as the 32 spline, so the upgrade isn't really worth it unless you have easy access to a ford 205, and you are gonna rebuild your chevy 205 anyways.

Also, according to advance adapters, the 6 bolt chevy 205 started in 1982, so i would assume that any 1ton 4wd with th400 from 83 on would be your best bet.

If your gonna do an NP205 site why don't you include some ford info? and twin sticking info etc etc......

Maybe you could get a Dodge 205, and put a Chevy 32 spline input in it. The Dodge 205 should use the 6-bolt round pattern, and shouldn't be as rare as the late Chevy case.

hey cruiser, the chevy 205 off of turbo 400's has a female 32 spline shaft that takes a 6bolt adapter to connect to the 400. the reason that people gut the chevy case and put ford internals in is because the turbo 400 np 205 are getting hard to find and people want big $$ for them

Okay good ideas on the tech info.

I like the thought about the dodge case Ben W. to ya
So do you know what years Ben. Did the Dodge have 32 rear output and 30 front output and just the puny 27 input or?
I mean would all i have to swap is the front and the front out or?
Anyone with a Dodge chime in please....:p

Elf Cruiser..Thanks for the year designation  as well

Hmmmm mabey i will just buy a case of

Pistol...Cruiser was talking about the front OUTPUT not the input as you mentioned. Yes idealy i want a Chevy 32 in/32 rear out/ and 30 front out. I will convert it to ford input...Dame just let one go rebuilt at the Puyallup Swap meet for $180.....hindsight is a great idea but pisses me off that no one has yet attained it.

Chevy used the 205 behind turb400 upto 91 I believe in the crew cab 4x4 as it kept a solid axle 60 front through that year as well....chevy front output is either 10 spline older versions or 30 spline newer version for married transfer cases. The 32 spline input became the long version when they began using the 205 with the circular 6 bolt pattern inthe chevy's.Earlier years used the short 32 spline input to the back of the transmission. Some Ford and dodge 205's had 32 spline front output. Also, a lot of divorced cases have the 32 splien front output for ford, dodge and I believe chevy. The only thing you have to swap to put the 32 spline shaft into the chevy is the seal around the yoke if you use a 1330 or 1350 yoke. This is oone of the primary reason to swap to the 32 splien front output is to be able to use a standard 1350 yoke on the front ..hope this helps:D

So the Dodge I just drug home has a divorced case in it behind a NP435.... Is it a 205? And if it is, can it be used with a doubler setup behind a GM 203?

DRM, it sure is a 205, looks like you could use a 203 doubler with it. Pull the input yoke off, and see if it's 10 spline, or what???

then call waggoner machine, and Off Road Design to get details on the doubler... they both sell them, they are slightly different though.

still have never seen evidence that a 200 is stronger then a 205

the divorced one is no good for a doubler, sell it.
