i have a 95 s 10 blazer that i just saf'd with toyota axles. had the 4.3 rebuilt, 4l60e recently gone thru....i had a couple 208 cases laying around, so i had planned on just running one of these. my qeustion is with the vss. the original case had the reluctor and sensor mounted on it....208 uses gear/cable. i know advanced adapters makes a kit with parts to install everything in the trans(new output shaft, reluctor, sensor), but has anyone heard of a mechanical/electric sensor that goes in the 208? thanks for the help

The AA stuff mounts the VSS in the adapter to the transfer case so in 4wd low the computer gets an wrong reading.

Jags that Run sells VSS that mount to the mechanical speedo

Advance Adapters makes several VSS products and depending on the application they are in the back of the trans or the back of the t-case. If you listen to the guy above (VSS in t-case) your 4L60E will not shift out of 1st gear when the t-case is in low. If you want to use the VSS in the t-case then you must also wire up the Low range switch to the t-case so the computer knows you are in low range. The 208 may or may not have provision for a low range switch (not a 4wd switch). The VSS in the rear of the trans is less complicated and more reliable. The only downside is that the speedo will be wrong in Low range and some newer vehicles will have issues with ABS in low range.

hey thanks for all the input guys! well i made a half dozen phone calls today, and ended up getting what i need from JTR. VERY HELPFUL PEOPLE!!!! basically i was told i could take my speed sensor from the old case, drill and tap into the back of the trans...where the govern. would be on a 700, and install their reluctor kit part # 4l60-003. part and shipping $100.05. I know this will not be accurate in 4 low...but in 4 low knowing my speed-or lack of- is probably the last thing i care about. I will keep you updated on how it works out. thanks again for the great info.....

Did you actually talk to Advanced Adapters? Most the ones the sell mount like i SAID in the adapter between the transfer case and trans or the original place in the transmission! It's a shity why to do it!

Yes, I spoke to Advance Adapters. Please explain to us "TARDS" why putting the VSS in the trans is a "shity" was to do it (for this application). How is the trans going to shift in low range if the VSS is in the t-case and there is no low range switch?
