The current frontend is 56.5" Wide.
It is a cruiser frontend w/ toyota pickup discs w/ 10" rims (3.5" BS) and 38.5x14.5s
It needs to be wider so here's the Q: How wide of a wheel spacer do you feel is safe? 2"? 2.5 or 3"?
http://www.adapters-store.com/ Is where I'll probably get them
Jason M 04-10-2002, 03:54 PM That wide of a spacer in the front would make steering really weird...
Cheyenne 04-10-2002, 05:05 PM What are other people doing who 38.5s on their cruisers? (other than swapping in a dana 60...which was in the plans until the bobby long birfs appeared)
Woody, you've got the same tire, so does 71rckcrzer, and wngrog used too (42s now). Unfortunately Woody is the only one still using a cruiser frontend so I guess he would be the guy to ask if he uses spacers or not.
The main reason for using the spacers is to get some stability back. The thing (cruiser) is really friggin tall!
55 guy 04-10-2002, 06:14 PM hey I run 38s stxs with 1 1/2" spacer makes it 58" wide just like the
mini trucks no problem at all !!! feels safer also !!!

Tracknod 04-10-2002, 06:37 PM Or you could get some 2" backspaced rims for the same price as the spacers. I am going to be running 38.5 as soon as I can get my electrical done on my project. Just a thought.
The Jerk 04-10-2002, 10:12 PM i ran 10 inch wheels with 2 inch back spacing and 15.5 wide tires and had no problems! jiMMy

I also am runnning stock axles and 38.5 sx's. I do not rub at all with 2" bs rims.
If you are too tall remove some lift...
coiledbj42 04-11-2002, 01:22 AM I run 2 inch wheel spacers on mine.
It steers the same with or without them.
I am putting 80 series diffs under my cruiser which are a bit over 4inches wider than stock 40series diffs. I am going to use the wheel spacers with the 80 series diffs too.
I like them. I got mine from http:www.snakeracing.com.au

woody 04-11-2002, 05:41 AM I only run 1/4" cheapie spacers to keep the inside edge of the 3.75" (?) backspace 10" rims of the tie rod heims. My cruiser, with all that tire, is "only" 7' tall at the tip top of the cage. Never felt any stability issues with a tire that wide. Width is about 6-1/2' wide, guessing that since my trailer with side rails is 14' x 6.5' and it JUST squeezes on!
Cheyenne 04-11-2002, 10:08 AM Thanks for the info guys. The cruiser has 10" champion beadlocks with 3.5" BS so I'm not gonna be swapping them out for a wheel with less backspacing.
I was gonna run my cruiser/dana 44 hybrid (60" wide) but Sixgun persuaded me to swap that for his SM465/205 setup that is now in the cruiser. This is why I am looking at spacers to widen the thing up. Also, the bobby long birfs came out and so I'm not in such a hurry to ditch the cruiser frontend just yet.
As it currently sits, I will be 2.5" wider overall (outside of tires) with just swapping on these fat tires when compared to the 35x12.5s that I was running.
If I add another 4" for spacers then I'll be 6.5" wider (outside of tires) than I was before. This will definitely help with stability but I hope I'm not too wide to fit through my favorite wheeling place (Rimrock, WA):(

Coiledbj42, they look good but how much do they cost apiece?
wngrog 04-11-2002, 10:23 AM I used to run 2" billet spacers from www.performancewheel.com I sold them to Buford here on the list.
I liked the way they worked and made the truck wider.
I think 2" is as wide as I would go...
GloNDark 04-11-2002, 10:24 AM Here you go. http://www.truckn-store.com/product.asp?returnURL=default.asp&ID=7028
Cheyenne 04-11-2002, 10:38 AM Thanks for the links
trucknstore $59 each (steel)
performance tire $85 each (high quality aluminum)
adapters-store $59 each (aluminum)
snake racing $? (material?)
coiledbj42 04-11-2002, 01:03 PM Snake Racing $144 AUS each, they are billet steel and include all studs and nuts.
And NO I dont work there!!!!:flipoff2:
reorx 04-12-2002, 07:59 PM It just so happens that I need to get some spacers for my truck as my TSL SXs (33x15.5) rub on the inside on my wheel wells on the back at hardly any flex! I'm looking at putting some 2" spacers back there (may go with 2" on the front, too). Just a couple of quick questions: Are the center holes gonna fit the front? Am I correct assuming that LCs use 6 on 5.5s?
Thanks for any advise!
coiledbj42 04-12-2002, 09:37 PM The ones that use clear the hub on the front and on the back.

Yeah, you will be fine.
As wide as you are with the 15.50's you may consider using the 1" or 1.5" spacers instead of a full 2".
2", though and you will definately not rub in the back.
Better get cracking though....Moab is 2 weeks away!!
