I am always afraid to post anything on this board due to being reammed by all you "Hard Core" wheelers and because I STILL have the newbie status. But at this point and time I would appreciate any reaming you all want to add. This project I want to get right so pick all you guys want and I will listen with an eager ear.
Here is a first view for all of you to see what "Benji" will be like.Remember this is just a teaser so to speak.Toy. drivetrain, possibly dual cases, and a Sidekick lid to complete the mutt theme.Hopefully unveiling it at the 2003 Zukimelt. :usa:

Looks like your body will get some good flex but what about the axles? Never seen anything like it...:flipoff2:

kinda cool, now all you have to do is put a vehicle on top of it and test it. then tell us how it does!!

by the way, won't the shackles slap against the frame really hard? are you simply going to put something between them?

...thinking you may need to lengthen your drop-away arms. With nothing more then the spring's weight, your rear shackles are leaning pretty hard - with a body, roll cage, running gear Etc. it looks like they will be parallel to the ground.

Drop bars I ran a set for one trip flexed great until the truck was in a little bind then the bars would begin to drop out, and push the truck over.

Looks cool, but you mounted the springs on the wrong side...:flipoff2:

Seriously, I think you may definately need a trac bar on the rear.
This will trac in an arc, but it will at least hold the leafs under the truck.

I look forward to seing this unfold as a project.

ooks good grumpy, but you defitnally need to get that shackle angle fixed, eather lengthen the drop bars or move the springs back about 1-2 inches..........
keep up up to date though.....:)

I have added a bar that streatches across frame rails that have ears to be able to pin the links up for highway driving to trails etc.As for the shackles,I have still yet to create the limiting brackets for everything.(downward and upward travel)There will be trac bars made.Definately.For pics of another zuki that has this setup Tim Porter has some pics of XS Parts on the izook web site under featured rigs.:usa:

If need be they are pinable to where they will not drop from the frame

The drop arms look alot like Tim Porters stuff... I've seen them work well on at least three of the rigs he has built.

That is where I am getting most of my ideas from.He is also giving me helpful hint on the side when I am in need of them.Since that pic was taken I have redone the links to be stronger and more durable.Pics will be up soon.:usa:

Well due to the shackle angle I made 2" longer links to compensate. In the first pic.3" of compression.Second pic is normal with no weight.Third pic is what I can move it to with just hand power,no stresses or weight pulling.I believe it will be very flexie and I am now starting on the front susp.Hopefully in a week I will be able to set the axles under it.(I will flip the frame over the right way first) :usa:

what do you do when your pinion angle gets so severe that you bind and snap your u-joints, it doesn't look like you would have functional flex......just a ramp travel contest winner.

I would think that since the front is the pivot the pinion would be pointing up at the t-case as the rear falls. Therefore there would be no problem with the angle of the dangle!
