: Out of Ccontrol Throttle

I have noticed a progressive problem on acceleration. With the throttle wide open (have to do it often) and accelerating, when I shift gears my rpms will rise well over 6k with the gas pedal up all the way. I took off the cable and lubed it. It felt free and not catching anything. When it happens the cable is tight at the pedal (like its not binding up). So I'm guesing it has to do with the carb itself. Is it possible that the second barrel is sticking open? I cleaned and lubed everything but noticed that the second barrel is not linked the the primary barrel linkeage (if that makes sense). Is this a vacuum/ solenoid problem. Let me know what you think. Jason

check around the little rubber nipple where the throttle cable goes through the firewall into the engine compartment... that's where mine started... then it frayed... then the throttle was a real %#@$!!

Figured it out. The secondary barrel is controlled by vacuum. A diaphram activated it from vacuum from the carb. A electric switch allows the vacuum to reach the diaphram and is controlled by (I think) the wideopen microswitch (man now I'm sounding like a techy). Well theres a little "oneway" valve from the vacuum to the diaphram that must let the diaphram vent. I must of put on backwards. I flipped it around and low and behold problem fixed. thnks for the reply, that was my first guess also and it looks fine. Jason
