Ok so i posted on here a while back asking what tranny i should run in my ranger. After weighing my options i looked all over for a ZF tranny and got lucky and found an F250 with a 5.8 ZF and 1356 for a couple hundred bucks. bent frame but i drove it home. one tire on the yellow line one on the white :D .

I got a 5.0 already from a mustang but that 5.8 is sounding like a pretty bad ass way to go. My next question now is getting this in. suggestions...should i go with the 5.0 or 5.8. I know some clearence issues like oil pan and exost with the 5.8, also i think that ZF is gonna be pretty hard to make fit right. should i maby just cut out the tunnel cover on the ranger and the F250 and use the F250's to make it bigger? Other ideas or links to pages with good write ups on 5.8/351 swaps, i have seen some on 5.0's but none on the 5.8/351.

oh yeah and the ranger is strait axeled so i probably could cut and move the motor x-member.

I would think fabbing a new cross member would solve a lot of problems for engine fitment, a bodylift would help a lot with the tranny.

the 5.8l fits as the 5.0 would. the only difference is its taller and 1 inch wider. to install the 5.8 you just have to mash the firewall in a lil bit more than you would for the 5.0. as for your zf. you shouldnt have any problems with putting that in. infact im pretty sure it will bolt right to the original crossmember. the only bad thing about the zf is that the sevos where out alot. your best bet would be to run a c6 from a bronco that had a 5.0 or 5.8. i have a ranger right now with a ford 327 c6 bw 1354 or whatever came in a 86 bronco. but my motor is pushed back 15 inches and the block is flush with the firewall. email me and ill send you pics if you need some more help. I want to run a stick so the ZF was the best bet that i came up with after posting here, and this may sound stupid but what are sevos? do you mean syncro? Good to hear that the ZF might actualy fit under this thing though.

Is there another EFI intake that will fit under the hood or is the only way to get the 351 under the hood running it carborated? If thats the case i might just cut a hole in the hood!
