: OTT Kick.Toy Case adapter
punkskalar 04-10-2002, 02:31 PM I remember reading something about an OTT Kick T-Case adapter to marry a Toy case to it... I did a search, and am coming up with a lot of divorced Toy case stuff, but can't remember what I read about the married Toy Case... Anyone here got their hands on one yet? Pics? Im planning ahead on my buildup, an I know OTT takes some time to get things from... Any pricing? I looked at the website, but not much info on this setup... Sorry about all the questions, I know Jeeps (gasp) and Toys up and down, the Zuk stuff is new to me... I hope to pick up a sidekick (2dr) soon and start a buildup (SAS with Toys of course) and am looking at gearing options... It will be a while down the road, but I like to think alot before throwing my money at a project, ar at least thats the plan... If someone has a link I haven't found, It would be appreciated...

fatkid 04-10-2002, 02:46 PM I'm sure one of these clowns has a link...:)

Bob, have you been sharing the goats with fatty??
I've got one. This adaptor is very sweet and very beefy. It's a total of about 2" thick which isn't a heck of a lot. From the begining of the tranny to the rear toy flange it measures 44". I do have pics but they aren't developed yet because I'm lazy! It will fit in a short wheelbase sammy, but the rear driveshaft will be pretty short. Pook on this board has one too.. neither of us have run them yet since we are in the middle of big projects. I added a 4.7 kit to the toy case while I was at it to.
As for the price of this thing... It's $900 canadian, so I guess about $10 american right?? There is a tonne of fabrication involved with the kick case. They remove the front output, do a lot of welding, put new drain and fill holes in and of course a new shifter out the side.... I will try and get the pics up soon for you. If you need anything else I would just email rick@ottindustries.com
Mine took four weeks to get to my door and he even delivered it in person! It was done exactly when they said it would be done. They do top notch work there and I would totally recomend them!
punkskalar 04-10-2002, 06:47 PM So you are saying I would have to do lots of mods to the Kick Case? Not so much a problem, just kinda curious... I don't know the Canadian Equivilance to American but It can't be too bad... I plan to stretch the wheelbase, so the rear drive would not be a problem... Did the adapter come with some detailed instructions on what to do to the Toy Case? Thanks for that info, i doubt someone would deliver it personally to NC, but thats one hell of a reason to go with OTT... I didn't see anything on the SKY website about any kind of Transfer case stuff...
jp008 04-10-2002, 06:59 PM bb88 on this board has this case also. He put it in his sidekick. Rick at O.T.T. did all the mods to the kick case. Very clean and professional looking. It performed flawlessly in Moab. You get roughly a 2.1 low ratio with the kick case and another 2.1 with the Toy case. Now things get interesting. You can get the 4.1 kit for the Toy case and you can also add another Toy case behind this with the factory 2.1 or the aftermarket 4.1's for ridiculously low ratios. It never ends...........
Brett (bb88) you got anything to add?
punkskalar 04-10-2002, 07:09 PM Yeah, i have been looking a bit at brent's rig... Might email him about the axle swap, i was thinking coils, but some seem to have problems with the buckets and tires... Anyhow, I appreciate all the useful information provided... I think I will be using some tubing all around mine (Buddy just bought a JD-2!)... I will definitely be cruising around here a bit for some more info, I don't post much, but I read everything I can... So the kick case is 2:1? I thought it was 1.8:1 or so... The Toy cases stock are 2.28:1, and I know i can get a 4:1 or 4.7:1...
bobaki 04-10-2002, 07:29 PM saving a real special one for you Shane..................:D
OTT is moving to a bigger building so their production is kinda slowed right now~I couldn't be happier with mine, not only does OTT make high quality stuff they are really good to deal with ~ the last time I talked to Rick he said the price on the kicker 2 was $650 (I paid a little less) you are correct on gear ratios (kick 1.87 toy 2.28) ~~~to clarify when you get YOUR 'kick t-case back from OTT it will be HIGHLY modified, all you have to do is bolt it to the Toy t-case, you WILL lose a little ground clearance because the toy t-case hangs down a little further than the 'kick one does
zukstur 04-10-2002, 08:56 PM bb88's tranny is a sweet setup very well done.

The OTT boys will do all the work to the kick case. Rick came to my house and picked up my kick case, toy case and 4.7 gears. I just thought since they were already working on that stuff I might save myself the trouble and get them to do the 4.7's since they had the machining equipment to mill the housing down, and at the same time did a really good cleanding and inspection of the case. From the looks of it, the toy t-case plate is a straight bolt-on and then the two plates (one on the kick case, one on the toy case) just bolt together. You'll understand when I get the pics up!! If you are putting this in a sammy you will have to do lots of work on the tunnel. Personally I am gonna end up doing what scawfish did and just cutting it all away and making a new one. I don't know what it would be like for a sidekick.
punkskalar 04-10-2002, 09:47 PM Cutting, Welding, and making the tunnel ugly in general will not be a problem... Im definitely going to be going this route once the buildup $ comes my way... Thanks alot guys... Ill be posting more often as the buildup comes a reality, and maybe some picks once I get my little red star... Im glad this option has become a reality for a Kick, as I think its the ideal platform (Minus the general looks of the thing) to start with... Oh god, just think of the crawl ratios!!! My last Heep only had 47:1, so If i get anywhere near 100 I will be more than happy... Lots of my friends are going double toys, and i like the options they afford, even If i never need the super low range...
