anybody know if you need to use a chevy radiator for a 4.3 swap I have a 93 4.3 in my cj now and am using the jeep I6 radiator but it seems to be running hot on the trails after a couple of hours it goes to 200 when I have a 185 t-sat. If I need to change it any idea what application would fit?

oh yeah it is a reverse rotation water pump if that makes any difference.

That should be plenty of radiator for your 4.3. Not a lot of details here...are you running a proper shroud? Is the motor timed to spec? Stock fan?

Why are you running a 185 degree stat? Isn't that a 195 degree motor? Seems like 200 is a pretty good temp for it. If you want to keep it at the exact correct temp, make sure everything is in good shape as mentioned above, and a run a 195 stat.

I had a chip burned for it and the suplier TBI chips said to run it at 185 if 200 is ok then I will not worry just noticed it was hotter than the stat range and didn't want a problem on the trail:D I am running a stock clutch fan and I have never checked the timing it has always started and run, idled great so i didn't mess with it. i have no fan shroud didn't come with the jeep when i go it, di I really need one if so I guess a trip to the junkyard iis in order

eh - you could always make a shroud if you can't find one. Also - the 4.3 has more girth than an inline 6 - you might be able to cool a few more degrees by adding some hood vents, or adding vents to the inner fenders.

Get shroud from a 4 cyl model and you can trim it to fit. I did this with my 3 core rad and a sbc 350. worked ok till it got really hot out. Now I run a Taurus fan off a switch. I can hold it down to around 175 if I want even when it's hot out. hmmm? stays cool, doesn't rob HP, can be turn off in water crossings and can be done for around 50 to 60 bux. Put one in you'll love it.
