I'm adding a turbo onto a 6.2L and have one question about the oil return...I know that the factory returns the oil to the oil pan but it would be a pita to modify mine (since it's in the truck). I was thinking of returning the oil into the valve cover. Has anyone don this before and if so, how well did it work. Does anyone have any reasons why I shouldn't return the oil via the valve cover? I was basically planning to remove the valve cover, drill a 3/4 hole and weld a fitting onto the cover that would connect to the turbo.

as long as its always downhill with no 90 degree fittings should be fine.
the return is under no pressure, so it HAS to flow downhill.

My ATS kit had a return line that replaced the breather in the right side valve cover.

Thanks for the reply.
It will be much easier to fab the return into the valve cover.

And If you use an electric lift pump you can plumb it to the fuel-pump blockoff plate.

I still have the mechanical pump...I thought about getting an electric pump then fabing a plate to dump it there, though. I was concerned if I would run into any goofy problems like not having large enough oil return passages to drain through the head or a problem dumping the hot oil into the valves.
