I am looking for a picture of an original battery hold down for a 1976 Ford pickup, or any year with the same style (not sure). My truck is lacking a hold down, and I just wanted to see what was on there originally.

Also, if any of you would like to post a pic of your custom jobs, that would be fine too.:smokin:

Thanks in advance.

I run a fancy tarp strap style battery hold down. I'd take a pic, but I'd hate to show off all my BLING.....

I've used a bungie cord before and it worked just fine.

mine fell into the fan blade at 45mph (or 3,500rpm) when i hit a big bounce in the road, made an awsome sound when it hit the fan, got tossed into my hood (left a nice dent on the inside) then i saw it in my rearview

mine was trying to get out of the bush in 2wdr after breaking a d44.
on the way in the road was virgin snow.
it turned into a long night.
dual battery trays with holddowns are not such a bad deal

I got a good laugh from that one, thanks!

I've got a rachet strap holding mine down, but my truck has not left my garage.
Can post pic upon request to see rachet strap in action.

it looks like you have the battery on the wrong side of the truck.
if you look at the other inner fender you will probably find a tray like thing that is supposed to hold that battery.

you have the bungy going the wrong way!!
no wonder it came loose, nothing to stop it from heading out to the fan
I do like the use of both styles, bungy and tarp strap
bonus style points

You guys all forgot the classic country way to tie a battery down. Go getchya some baling wire, and make a tie down out of baling wire. One piece of wire coming from one bolt hole, another from the other, tie them together over the top of the battery. Make sure that you don't twist the two ends together and bend them towards the positive terminal or the sparks will fly.

here's my battery hold down and it's chrome for eggstra strength :D

I made this because I used one of those stupid POS aftermarket battery hold downs (bar across the top and two long bolts) and well apparently they don't like 20+ rollovers cause mine broke shortly after rolling my junk for like the 20th someothing time. The positive termial grounded out on the hold down bracket and started a fire

I bounced hard coming down a dune and luckyily I had some big ass double pumper that flooded the motor I went to fire it back up and it sounded funny. Battery landed on my fan and fooked up a blade (kinda). Everyone was like you should take it easy on that fan, so I revved it 6 grand up the next hill and it was fine.. hehe

Semi-Stock 80-86 setup... has an 87-91 tray, which actually holds the battery rather than sit under the plastic inner fender...

btw the battery is out of a BMW.1150CCA... not a factory battery, so it had to be replaced to be a certified pre owned.... damn the luck.. :)

Don't know never made one out of steel but maybe if I get some free time I will try to make one. If you want two aluminum ones I will cut you a deal.

i really dont feel like messing with the cost and coating the fender to stop it from curoding(sp?), its a cheap truck and i really dont need that fancy stuff.
