: High pinion dana 70?
rockbound 04-10-2002, 08:09 PM did they ever make one?
what came in the front of a of 1969 international one ton 4x4 dump truck?
is this a 70 or a 60?
The Fleckster 04-10-2002, 08:10 PM Should have had a closed knuckle Dana 70 front like all the 1310 4x4s.
Fleckster
rockbound 04-10-2002, 08:14 PM could be closed knuckle but I can't tell from the pic, is it hp?
rockbound 04-10-2002, 08:18 PM he is a link to the pic on ebay!

CrazyHorse 04-10-2002, 08:29 PM it's a closed knuckle 70, the only HP dana axles (stock) were ford application 44's and 60's, and were all driver side pumpkin.
rockbound 04-10-2002, 08:33 PM sure looks like a high pinion from the picture, can't really tell!
livermore2 04-10-2002, 08:39 PM its not high pinion. it will sit just like a 60 with the same clearance and a bigger ring and pinion. it has full floating 1 1/2" 35 spline inners with tracta joints if it is a 8 lug. 23 spline inners if it is a big 6 lug. its a strong axle but its really hard to find parts for it.

sits like a 60, does that mean it is a 60 housing with bigger ring and pinion, I figured it would be hard to get parts for, I was just currious about it, not interrested in it!

this is a 70 housing. it sits like a 60 because it uses the same diff cover. but there is a bigger ring gear inside.

oops, misssed the 50, didn't know about the 30, and the dodge ones I know for a fact are not, as we just retubed one to put in a friend's jeep...

It doesn't look to be HP in this pic, you would be able to see the yoke if it was....
As for RC,
The new superduty's use a RC D50 (I think) some of the duallies are RC D60's.
The TTB D50, D44, D35, and D28 were ALL Reverse Cut
The jeep D30's were reverse cut as soon as they started using the driver's side differential
Ford 44's were for about 8 years, there is info on them in the POR bible, same with the 60's
And Dodge's are not reverse cut, neither the d44 or the D60, but the D60 is setup for a 4 link from the factory, and has a manual hub conversion available, with no factory disconnect...
Much more plentiful than the Ford 60's which were HP, but setup for leaves, and SPENDY

Foley, Good info. What ran a D28 Reverse Cut?
The RC44 was ran for longer than 8 years, but the good ones are 73-77 (For a front swap)
No. Dana has never made a high pinion 70.
evilfij 04-11-2002, 04:27 PM where is 9-volt
This would be perfect for him. i sent him a PM I hope he gets it in time.
How hard would this be to convert to discs? it looks HP in the pic though I am sure it is not. I might just buy it if I can convert it to discs.
let me know asap
Ron

1310 is the model of the truck (1 ton) or can also be called a 1300

the RC D28 was in the early year rangers and bronco II's It really isn't much of an axle... but it IS reverse cut :)
the RC Dana 35 in ranger's and explorer's of the 90's was an upgrade, if that gives you an idea how strong it is.

I think I finally found me a 1300, rotted to nothing, and it has been de sprung ( guy built a tractor out of it) Can ya say 1300 shortbed????:D While this post on IH d70 fronts is goinon, a guy clams to have a open knucke IH 1 ton front w/ disks. Everyone I have talked to says that IH never used a d60 front, but that they also never used a open knuckle d70 front, so WTF is it?? I am going to try to find out where it is, so I can find out for sure, but anyone got any ideas? (I think it is the d60 that supposedly didnt exist)
REDDMANIAC 04-11-2002, 06:41 PM Use the "Contact the seller " option & find out. Ask for more pics too. :D

I do not want that, i was just interested in what it was!
onetonwillysands10 04-14-2002, 04:11 PM a dana 60 front was used in the 1300 series "camper special" in 1975.It was open knuckle king pin axle with 35 spline inners,5-332x joint , and 30 spline outer. But, it had external style bearing hubs..just some trivial imformation.:D
That Mick 04-14-2002, 07:13 PM there was no 1300 Camper special in 1975.
